Good salary & benefits
IT Manager (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 9 November 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedOverall a good place to work. Remuneration is good. Benefits such as Flex-time and Flexible working arrangements help with work / life balance. Under resourcing does cause stress as recruitment does not match demand. Culture not great, management do not adequately address bullying behaviour.
Pros
Salary, Flexible Working, Flex-time
Cons
Stress, long hours, toxic colleagues

Toxic workplace culture
Registered Midwife (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 23 November 2023
No action is ever taken against management or midwives that bully others. If you're honest and ethical, this is not the workplace for you. Avoid +++++

Eye-opening and unpredictable
Auxiliary services operator (Current Employee) - Toowoomba QLD - 7 August 2023
When I initially applied for the job, I thought it would provide many a challenges to overcome and indeed it has. The job for the most part is assisting the nursing staff with patient care (cleaning up, transferring from ward to medical imaging, etc…). However, it also includes more challenging times, such as taking deceased patients to the mortuary, this can be difficult for some but there is mental health services to assist with debriefing if needed, usually the “wardies” will talk amongst themselves, a somewhat “informal debriefing” From what I have observed and experienced myself while working in the auxiliary services as a wardsman or “Wardie” as most staff prefer to call you, you must be somewhat charismatic. This may be already obvious to whom is reading, but majority of patients you deal with in an in-patient setting are either geriatric or have underlying health conditions, being charismatic simply makes patient encounters less awkward and puts the patient as ease. one of the favoured acronyms all hospital staff use is AIDET (acknowledge, introduce, duration, explanation and time) If you are interested in the role as a “wardie” I would say, “give it a crack” not only is it a very diverse job, but you will have a greater appreciation for life itself.

in club and out club
Customer Service Officer (Former Employee) - Brisbane - 3 August 2023
if in the club you're good, if not in the club not so good, meant to be based on merit but not really. need to fix culture to be more inclusive and also remove middle management that don't add value

Not rewarding.
Enrolled Nurse (Former Employee) - Qld - 24 July 2023
This company doesn't care about it's employees. No recognition. No opportunity to go further. No time to do annual education. Have to do education at home in your own time. Budget spent at the top and admin and not on the front line.

Good experience.
Registered Midwife (Former Employee) - Brisbane - Australia - 18 July 2023
Good opportunities for experience, friendly colleagues. But management is not very kind, doesn't follow up after adverse situations, and can be harsh. Often felt like a number in a big hospital.

Middle management burrowed in like tics. Otherwise okay.
Business Analyst (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 3 July 2023
I worked for 8 years mostly in payroll/IT. My experience was pre-covid so it might be different now. It was always a demanding environment and occasionally unpleasant. Having to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day ironically didn't have a positive effect on my health. I found it had a passive aggressive way of combating union's efforts to ensure job security by increasing natural attrition in areas they wanted to reduce staff. The exception was middle management which was often 20 year veterans who clung to there positions for dear life. It would suit some people. Pay and responsibilities improve as you go up the ladder but if you're not enjoying the AO stream then I'd highly recommend doing something else sooner rather than later especially with the advent of AI.
Pros
Stable employment
Cons
stifled environment

Supportive environment
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Ipswich QLD - 7 June 2023
Working as a registered nurse can be tough at times as expected however my colleagues are all very supportive. The pay should be higher and we should get more benefits

Supportive workplace
Quality and Reporting Officer (Current Employee) - Upper Mount Gravatt QLD - 5 June 2023
Challenging work, great environment, solid ethos. I suffered a mental health breakdown during my time at QH and they went above and beyond to support me through this time and phase me back into work. Could not ask for a more supportive management and team. Of course, QH is a vast organisation and your experience may differ. I work at the Health Contact Centre in Brisbane.

Toxic employer
Consultant (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 19 May 2023
Whether you are clinical, admin, or support you will be treated like a paper clip. You will constantly be bombarded with emails about the brilliant corporate culture but you will be treated like a serf. Pay office will mess up your pay and leave. You will work overtime that you won’t be allowed to claim. If you ever step out of line you will be “performance managed “ until you quit.
