Work Experience

Staff were polite and helpful. Showed me parts of the duties required to become an Electrician. Hands on, good hours and seem to have a good work culture

This was very toxic work environment with continued back stabbing of fellow workers

The role that I endured was such that I did not receive sufficient training to perform my duties well. The training was substantially left up to other colleagues to train me who each had a different view of their job responsibilities and work ethics. Management failed to take any responsibility for workplace issues.

Terrible management- no support

. Bullying in mental health, incompetent nanagement and doctors. The worse you are the higher you will go in Metro South, Ipswich and Toowoomba. No support for base grade staff.

Some areas great others like a vipers pit

Some areas well supported and a great place to work, (Pain Clinic. Professional Development); others like working in a viper pit (recovery unit, they old age eat the young or debilitate them is still entrenched.)

Friendly Environment

I worked here for two weeks in December (2018) and two weeks in January (2019), in the Workforce and Strategy Branch. The first week the branch was relocating to a different level, so I and my peer (another student) helped package the staff's belongings. The team was quite apologetic about not being able to give us work due to them relocating. But we had fun, as in real-life situations, sometimes you are faced with relocating. We mainly read articles, summarised points and so forth. It was interesting seeing some of the policies and strategies that they had created. It was overall a great learning experience with friendly staff.

Pros

Lot's of spare time

Cons

Not having any work sometimes

Some great workers in the area I was in but one bad apple left a sour taste.

The work is very hot and sweaty. Travel to T.I to work. One stuck up worker (female) thinks it is a holiday for her. Come up on the Monday and fly back on the Friday. Monday and Friday is traveling days, so no work is done. Tue, Wed and Thur spent trapping Mozzies with a scoop net which probably took about 2 or 3 hours a day? When I got back to the accommodation she was already there with her feet up which was around 4.00pm.

Pros

Traveling Allowance

Cons

hot and sweaty work with one worker putting a strain on the other workers.

Great work place.

Busy but enjoyable days at work. Ongoing training provided. Management is great and very approachable. Hardest part of my job was when we lost a patient. Most enjoyable was taking care of patients and their families and seeing them leave hospital well again.

Pros

Great place to work.

Cons

Nil.

A normal hospital

On contract for many years - stressful. Sometimes notification of renewal was only given the day before. Management leaves a lot to be desired. There is a 'club' mentality.

Business oriented

I really do not want to review this business. It is my current employer and I would not want my negative feedback to be read by them. After all, my employment is necessary

Misleading contract

A typical day would include handovers in the morning, assisting patients with exercises and cleaning up gym/gym equipment when required. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting different patients day to day. Now the bad.. workplace culture was not that great ( for me personally). Granted, some of the physiotherapists were genuinely nice. There were some though, who were not helpful.

Pros

cafeteria

Cons

angry physios

Overall I had a very fair experience with Qld Health.

I have worked for Qld Health for the past 16 years. It has provided me an excellent working condition, good teamwork and also have shown flexibility when needed.

Easy Job Poor management

While the work is easy to learn there are elements of the job that need attention. New manager, Over weighted Trolleys, truck maintenance, poor docks and no staff parking unless you pay a small fortune to park in the hospital car park. While the majority of people were great to work with management likes to abuse their role and authority so make sure if you have any issues "keep them to yourself" cause the result will end up that your contract wont be resigned placing you back on the casual pool and told never to be offered any work. There statement"At Health Support Queensland (HSQ), you will be part of an organisation who helps care for Queenslanders." Definitely not true.

Good job but hard to get a permanent position

Qeensland Health seems to be heading for contract only staff that have no guarantee of getting permanent positions when you are in a support role to the hospitals

Pros

Stable work load

Cons

Can be made redundant anytime as contracts aren't renewed

Professional intense working environment, well managed

Managing staff, emails, writing guidelines/protocols. Researching information for other Government agencies and information sharing. Attending meetings, client/ process discussion. The most enjoyable part of the job is working for the safety and health of children on the Gold Coast.
