Organisation Culture

The location I worked at was awful. There was a lot of bullying and nepotism, and there was nobody there you could complain about it to because each step up the rung was a bestie of the person below. Staff are leaving left, right and centre - that is, those who are not in the right clique - and those who can’t leave and are left behind are taking excessive sick leave and extended periods of leave for stress complaints it is not a nice place to work, which is a shame because the pay, job security and work/life balance are great

Found working as a registered nurse in Northern Queensland s truly rewarding experience.

Did my graduate program at Queensland Health. Very good experience, well supported and worked in interesting and acute areas. Always given constructive feedback, well supported, trusted and given responsibility within competence level.

The worst experience of my life wish I never worked there

I am a very experienced nurse but unfortunately this doesn’t matter at this hospital because it’s nit what you know but who you know. Nepotisum is rife friends get jobs through friends. Interviews are given just so they are seen to be doing all the right things but the jobs are given to their friend with no experience. As for the bullying it’s out of control. I worked on four wards over ten years and every ward it was really bad. Most of the bullies are the nums or cn s And most of my colleagues are on mental health programmes s antidepressants nw because of this. I was bullied by a num for theee years no one would listen and hierarchy just thought I was a trouble maker because I reported it . My life necame worse after that she bullied me more. I started work on a different ward to get away from it little did iknow my old num had contacted her and told her lies so she then bullied me to. I reported all of this but then I was asked to leave because I was a trouble maker. My life went downhill rapidly . I know there are a lot of us I attend a support group which is full of bullied nurses from TTH . I wouldn’t recommend working there at all.

I enjoyed the work

Mainly preparing meals for patients, cleaning and restocking. Management need more people skills they were all female, they preferred to have female staff working there. Workplace culture is fair , hardest part of the job was remembering what jobs you had to do each day and where wards are. Nothing enjoyable .

Great to work for

My introduction to working as a registered Social Worker began with Queensland Health. It was a great experience and unfortunately it’s been hard to follow in the UK. Certainly a growing rewarding environment to really give opportunity to make a positive difference for others. Go for it, a role and community that you’ll be happy to have entered.

It was alright. I didn't find management particularly helpful when I had issues.

I was working casual and had several short contracts in different areas. I I found management could be tricky and at times obstructive and rude. Mostly I enjoyed working there. There was a problem with processing my application and it took about 6 months after acceptance of my application before I actually started working there.

Pros

Variety in my work with doing different contracts.

Cons

No stability or regular income in working casual.

Supportive team with high workloads acheived

I had to upload medical guidelines, procedures and policies onto their intranet site for use by Queensland Health staff. Team was super supportive at work, and provided the opportunity to start early to increase my work-life balance. I would recommend working here to anyone.

Labelling, updating details, cancellation of products

Excellent team/crew to work with. Open, honest. Upgrading to a new system, which brings teething problems, trial and error. But management and IT worked through it all. That was stressful for everyone. Definitely would work with them if asked too.

Qld Health is great career choose but big changes needed

Needs more training in the management area just like those in forced to small business and more people skills again like we are thought to use on our workers this should be all same for all not one rule for gov and another for private sector. Remember this can be an easy fix if you want to climb ladder of fortune by brown nosing remember you must have pride of place and respect to the staff by these persons put in these rolls

Management are bullies

Great job, good pay, but ruined by ego driven management who have no interest but their own agenda. They will stab you in the back at any opportunity to make themselves appear competent. Before long your anxiety levels are extreme because the politics is inescapable. You need to brown nose to your manager to be treated normal, because just doing a good job isn't good enough.

Busy work place

Very busy, many areas can be clicky (if you don't fit in can be devastating) Most supervisors supportive, but if you are under a lying psycho it can make your life unbearable as you feel you have nowhere to go for assistance and if you cannot move into another area you end up leaving.

Good work place and career options

Gold Coast Health offered security of employment and the ability to work varying hours across multiple work sites including community and emergency departments. In my role I assisted people across the age spectrum who were diagnosed with varying mental illnesses and other acute issues including suicide risk requiring the need for acute management.

Support worker

Was a great job . Management was horrible. Don't care about work place bullying. Signs up everywhere with zero tolerance. But allow it to happen . Other wise my 20years was good.
