Message from the Dean

QUT is a University on the move, and STEM is at the heart of the transformation. We are the most rapidly growing research University, with international leaders in a range of disciplines, and a strong record of delivering research impact for industry and government. We are the most preferred University in Queensland, with students who trust our courses to deliver experiences that set them up for amazing careers.

The Science and Engineering Faculty is the research heart of QUT, hosting five ARC Laureate Fellows and two ARC Centres of Excellence. Our experts have access to state-of-the-art facilities on our inner city campus and real world research sites distributed throughout South-East Queensland. Our Science and Engineering Centre in Brisbane houses the latest in high performance computing and visualisation, cutting-edge teaching spaces and advanced scientific instruments, while distributed research sites provide opportunity for experimental breadth and scale.

The Faculty has over 11,500 students studying science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and built environment. Our high calibre students work with our lecturers to integrate their STEM studies with research and workplace experience alongside industry and government partners. We develop students into professionals and entrepreneurs capable of evolving their practice as future demands and opportunities evolve.

Through both education and research we work hard to translate knowledge into action through partnerships with industry, government, global charities and leading universities around the world. Our Faculty is a supportive and collegial community, where people work together for the benefit of our students and our research partners.

Mixed feelings
It's not a bad campus to work in and the people are nice in general. My work area on the other hand had very bad internal politics that I try to avoid like a plague. It seems like bad attitude are hard to overcome even with HR intervention.

Good people, poor organisation
Like any Australian university, QUT is highly exploitative of its front line workers. It's poorly managed and slow to change. Great people in lower levels though.
QUT Open Day Ambassador in Brisbane QLD

Great pay and fun environment
I only worked there temporarily as an ambassador but I enjoyed my time there. Free lunch was offered, along with free uniforms, and there is opportunity to branch out into other roles.

Great experience
Super easy, interviewers & training staff are lovely. Most enjoyable part of job is being apart of their mission & seeing it pay off. Highly recommend
