Living The Dream
Assessor (Former Employee) –  WA28 May 2019
If you enjoy ripping people off, then find a job assessing for RAC.

All you have to do is arrive at a client's home, have a quick look around and then find something that falls under "maintenance issues" to dodge the claim and receive a bonus payment for your creative talent.

Way to go!

This company needs a massive culling of the old managers in the contact centre. Most of them are bullies and you are constantly micro managed. Avoid..

Toxic work environment
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Perth WA2 July 2018
They truely know how to suck the life out of you. This is an incredibly TOXIC work environment.

The big boys club.

The pay was appalling for the amount of work I had to do with no real back up or support.

Sucks you dry and really only there for their members.. Save your self. Bullying and Harassment is HUGE. Know your rights and document everything

A company with a proud heritage and purpose
Manager (Current Employee) –  Perth WA5 April 2018
Proud to be part of RAC.

Love the fact that it is giving back to members with the 24 hour RAC Helicopter and educating the next generation of drivers on road safety through BStreetSmart and the Elephant in the Wheatbelt.

Within RAC Insurance, lots of recognition and focus on development of employees. Engagement is in the best employer range and NPS is excellent. New CEO is focusing on innovation and empowering employees to better support the member going forward.
Pros
RAC is committed to making a difference to Western Australians. Development, annual Stars Ball
Cons
Different parts of the business could work better together

Wouldn't Recommend
Insurance Sales Acquisition Specialist (Former Employee) –  Perth WA28 January 2018
Terrible higher management, lack of advancement, salary is good for a call centre position. Only advance if you know the right people, too many chiefs and not enough indians
Pros
Free food
Cons
The staff

Rac non for profit total lies dont believe them
Everything is about bottom line profit
Poor products poor prices member discounts are fake as prices are Inflated before discount is applied
All upper management incompetent and underqualified
Now they sub contract roadside assistance services to club assist who in turn sub contract to private companys then both club assist and rac steal from these private company contractors leaving mum and dad investor companys broke

Beware!! The travel division currently in transition.
Customer Service Officer (Former Employee) –  WA2 May 2017
This used to be a great place to work for. It was customer service focused in line with the RAC values. You weren't just a number and they cared.

Unfortunately the travel division is going through a transition. It is trying too hard to stay relevant in today's market and is losing at its heart what made it unique and charming which you associate with the RAC brand. It is fast becoming a sad clone of its competitors in the WA market with the attitude "stack them high, sell them cheap".

Staff dissatisfaction is apparent with a few of their stores at 100% turnover in a year. They will not recognise anything you do that doesn't contribute to the bottom line even though 50% of your role is non profit generating.

Staff retention is not a priority here. If only they invested the money they keep spending on training new staff into retaining the current ones they have/had, it would probably be more financially viable.
Pros
Job security. Educationals.
Cons
No penalty rates! Targets unrealistic. Minimum wage?

Ruthless and cold
Prefer not to say (Former Employee) –  West Perth WA13 January 2017
Initially comes across as a warm and inviting place to work.

Watch yourself as no matter how well you perform you are only as good as the last 5 minutes.

Backwards place to work with micromanagement tactics and management still in their 20's.

A uni degree does not qualify one for life skills and tact with people management, sad that upper management turn a blind eye to dysfunctional people management.
Pros
It's an income
Cons
A little awkward to get to from the CBD.

Fun workplace with fantastic co-workers.
Inbound Sales & Services Consultant (Former Employee) –  Joondalup, WA13 April 2015
A typical day at RAC involves speaking to different customers, and helping them with their enquiry over the phone. Working hard to meet KPI's is a must. I learnt fantastic customer service skills through extensive training provided, which included many different ways of handling conversations in a personal yet still professional manner. Management at RAC are extremely supportive, as are co-workers making going to work easy as can be! The hardest part of working at RAC for me was being sat down for such long periods of time on a daily basis. The most enjoyable part was the wide variety of people I was able to help through great conversations.
Pros
Team environment with fun activities, friendly culture, fairly reasonable pay rate, great location.
Cons
Not very flexible in regards to work-life balance.
