A well thought of organisation but a draconian work load model
There are some very good things about working at RMIT. The student population is great to work with. Management structure is large with lots of middle managers so it is difficult to get a decision. You really need to know who to go to and you can get conflicting responses or no response at all. The teaching work load for an academic is huge and does not appear to be getting any better. They have lots of systems that do not communicate well with each other. Lots of change occurs impacting on work load as well and lots of reporting.

great workplace
Challenging and great environment to learn. Learned and improved a range of laboratory skills, which consequently improved my confidence not only at work, but in every day life too.
Research Fellow in Bundoora, VIC

Post Doctoral Research Scholar in Environmental Biotechnology with 2 years experience in RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia
As a postdoctoral research fellow at RMIT University,I have developed new skills in the laboratory as an independent researcher which has led to me gaining skills in project development, including supervision and directing others. Also working in the area of bioremediation, I have interacted with industry and government agencies. The research that I have been involved has always been milestone-led with expected times and dates for outcomes to be delivered, which I have always adhered to. Milestones were discussed in regular meetings and interactions between the groups always helped to meet the deadlines during the course of the project.
