Lead Facilities Engineer (Former Employee) – Brisbane, Australia – 2 June 2017
The work was highly focused on technical issues. Santos, being an operating as well as development organisation, solving technical issues were prime requirements. I am glad to handle the technical issues, including design issues successfully.
Administration Assistant - Part Time (Former Employee) – Roma QLD – 28 December 2016
There was never a typical day, every day was varied and fast. My day involved in making quick decisions with information to hand and providing alternatives when required to handle situations that arose frequently. A monthly Excel spreadsheet was maintained for chargeback purposes for various departments. A pool vehicle register calendar was my major tool for keeping an awareness of where vehicles were being allocated to and coming from. I had regular co-workers interaction and daily phone-ins with my supervisor. The hardest part of the job was the work load within the small amount of time and the most enjoyable was attempting to keep everyone moving and completing multiple tasks within short deadlines.
Sr Process Engineer (Former Employee) – Gladstone QLD – 6 November 2016
Santos has a great working environment with both offices and plant sites based. Huge opportunity to learn on Coal Seam Gas exploration and operation in upstream side, as well as gas treatment and liquefaction of the LNG plant on downstream side.
Oracle eAM Maintenance Analyst Planning (Former Employee) – Brisbane / Adelaide / Fields – 27 September 2016
My job came with job satisfaction as I worked across nearly every location in the business finishing my last 7 months purely covering Queensland fields upstream. Have had much accolade for my work and satisfying.
Systems Engineer (Former Employee) – Adelaide City Centre SA – 3 July 2016
When the oil price was high, Santos management was prepared to spend money on a pleasant office environment, on equipment, and on good salaries. Unfortunately - in my opinion - it never really made a sure transition, organizationally or culturally, from being a small, informal, local company to the large international company it aspired to be, with the associated proper professionalism and systemisation required to make that work.
In the past two years the drop in oil prices has hit Santos hard and there have been several rounds of redundancies. A new senior management team has been installed and it is likely that the company culture will change quite significantly. Hopefully the changes will be good ones, and the company will pull through, but until then there is no guarantee of anything.
Nice office, very good people to work with, central location in city
Terrible office politics, currently money is tight
Operations Co Ordinator (Former Employee) – Adelaide SA – 9 March 2016
14 hour days and on call, Learned heaps and always worked well with others, Helped to make sure projects were on time and correct, Hardest part of job was time line of projects, Always willing to learn new things.
Santos construction Supervisor- Projects (Former Employee) – Cooper Basin – 16 January 2016
Managing contractors and projects in SWQ. New projects and tasks leading to learning on the job also. Safety was paramount. The Cooper Basin is very isolated and hot. Being part of a productive team made the work satisfying.
Santos assisted me to grow as an individual in the workforce. The company made many bad decisions and as a result has required a massive slow down in project work and a cut of almost 50% of the workforce.
