Productive and a fun workplace
Domestic Service Attendant (Former Employee) –  Holsworthy NSW15 June 2018
My Typical day was repetitive cleaning, I learnt about chemical handling, colour coding, management was awesome, you could joke and have a laugh with them, workplace culture was very diverse the hardest part was the heavy lifting and on my feet all day the best part was the hours and all the friends I made along the way.
Pros
Free Lunches
Cons
On My Feet All Day

Good place to work
Detainee Service Officer (Current Employee) –  Maribyrnong, VIC, AU6 December 2018
Its a good place to work. It is multi cultural and linguistically diverse. Cultural Competence is greatly valued as well as alertness and ability to follow instructions.

very clicky place to work.
Detainee Services Officer (CSO) (Former Employee) –  Brisbne5 September 2018
Serco has a very poor work/life as there is no room for advancement due to skills level. All advancements are given on the basis of who you know and not what you know. The organisation runs on a military basis and correctional management. Most of the upper management is made up of ex prison officers who are mates with the management team.
Pros
plenty of work
Cons
12 hr shifts

Good Money available, Terrible work life balance
Detainee Services Officer (Former Employee) –  Christmas Island WA10 March 2018
Christmas Island for 2 years, made some good money, at the cost of missing family, funerals, birthdays etc..

Terrible food for $4 on site
Same terrible food is free on night shift

Senior Management is a joke

Disgraceful accommodation provided, The buildings should be demolished, rebuilt, instead, everything is given a patch up until it breaks again

Senior management are just there to cut costs, make their bonuses, then leave

Immediate Managers and Supervisors deserve much more credit than they currently receive.

There is a very specific guideline in regards to getting overtime, but if you follow this, you will very very rarely get called. Break the rules and get what you can
Pros
Good money, $30+ph
Cons
Disgusting food, cutbacks and penny pinching from Senior management

Dynamic and exciting
Detainee Service Officer (Current Employee) –  Broadmeadows, VIC13 September 2015
Dynamic, challenging and exciting work environment. Rotating roster with rotating roles and posts. Learned to multi task and cope with pressure to keep up with unexpected situations. Management is always rotating, as the organization is a multi national which provides a variety of services for the government. Colleagues are all from different nationalities. Hardest part of the job is working with detainees from a culture you are unfamiliar with and their communication is very limited. The best part of the job is working long days and having and having many days of to compensate
Pros
lots of days off
Cons
long hours
