In 1953, the prototype of the first SONIC® Drive-In® opened in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Back then, SONIC revolutionized the ordering process by using curbside speakers that allowed customers to place food orders without ever leaving their cars. To further extend our commitment to education, each fall SONIC conducts its largest annual fundraising effort supporting teacher’s projects across the nation—Limeades for Learning.  This award winning program is a national cause effort conducted in partnership with that benefits teachers and students in local communities. Since its origin in 2009, we have donated over $9.5 million to teacher’s projects and made a difference in thousands of students’ lives.
