The most useful review selected by IndeedI have been working with SCCH for about a year. I have learned so much about high need patients, doing training at Prince of Wales and Macquarie Hospital.
I enjoy working with my co-workers, they are great people.
My Community manager is great, very supportive. Other management staff are friendly and understanding.
Overall I’m happy working for them.

Sneaky, dishonest and money hungry organisation who will try its very best to cut corners wherever possible. It's all about the money. Be very careful when signing a 'contract' (if you can call it that) as you are employed as a 'Independent Contractor' - just another way of avoiding as much responsibility as an employer as possible.

Understaffing is a massive issue . Lower pay than other providers no penalty rates ,meal allowances or sick pay . Management does nothing to rectify the problems Stressful work conditions with zero support . They have created a work environment that anyone with merit unfortunately moves on and they rely on immigration to keep the wages low and their profits high .

The worst ever!

No wonder there are so many bad reviews! Way lower wages compared to other agencies and no negotiation as self-employed contract??? There is no supporting workers whatsoever, no any educational program for workers, no communication, very different to other agencies. The agency is bad for support workers but good for managers because they don't do their job !

Avoid this company if you find a helpful and supportive company for your career. The management do not care about workers, they care about ONLY clients and the MONEY! No communication, No education, need to manage yourself. They do not review the "Duties plan" which needs and vital, they should find who willing to do tasks WHATEVER client wants, not just "SUPPORT WORKER." Be careful of the contract you sign, as they have structured in a way to avoid employee liabilities

Management only care about themselves

Southern cross pay less than any other DSW jobs. You are employed as a contractor (not casual). No room for professional growth. No job security. No opportunities for permanent positions or promotions. Lots of cliques within group homes. Bullying and favouritism. Clients are not looked after properly, particularly when they don’t have family or a close support network. The clients are forgotten about and left sitting in their own waste for days. They will offer no help or support when you ask for it; but they beg you endlessly when they need you to do something that benefits them.

The team are super helpful. Everyone gets in on time and tackles their day positively e.g. urgent shift vacancies. The team shares ideas on how to improve process's which is improving. great environment

Bullying is rampant

You will be bullied by other workers and management, these people are horrible to work for, they use employees for a skape goat wherever possible and WILL walk all over you if they see fit, about them at all costs they also trade under the name southern cross support services. They will also lie to cover themselves

Rewarding

Learnt what tracheostomy on a child meant. When suction would be to keep clear for oxygen into the lungs. Keeping equipments for oxygen clear off extra fluid so it’s not traveled into lungs
And that consistency of care and love is beyond what diagnosed was! Client is well and living to their fullest today.

I was caring for the elderly in the community, at first it started of great, management was caring and understanding of my needs as a carer and a uni student.
Management new of my uni studies from start as I had informed at my interview
When it came time for me to go on my clinical work placement for my uni studies, management pretty much bullied me into leaving as they didn’t have anyone to fill my clients.
I was told at my interview that you got paid an hourly rate, travel rate and then time spent travelling. The time travelling is a lie which I never got.....
