Great culture

Indeed Featured review

Great culture. It's the first place I had worked whereby everyone in each sector is welcoming and great to work with. Everyone strives to offer good quality care to patients. I would be happy to be here as a patient myself.

Outdated systems, poor work culture.

I worked at St Vincent’s Hosptial DPC for 4.5yrs and here is my honest review:Outdated systems - since St Vincent’s Heath is affiliated, they have their own systems throughout the hospital.High turnover of staff - 2022 saw many jobs not just DPC but in other areas of the ward.Poor work culture and management - again related to high turnover including DPC management (5 times in 2 years). Current line management until I left in 2022 isn’t strong and unrealistic. Often nurses and admin staff to fend for themselves. Secondments offered during 3 times COVID lockdown - got some useful skills and successful in leaving DPC role. Didn't get the roles permanently was covering for despite going through formal process. First was infection prevention and staff health, second was the ED CSO role. Needs a talent pool for admin staff to backfill positions throughout the hosptial. This is why they cannot keep staff. If you intend to transfer over NSW health, only St Vincent’s Hosptial and Sacred Hear Hosptial are recognised in this system. Overall I do not recommend working in this hosptial and health network

Pros

Ado, Leave, 3 secondments.

Cons

High turnover, unable to get backfill, lack of incentives for development, outdated systems, high volume activity every day, limited career development, toxic workplace, 6AM starts, weak management

Nice coworkers but hours insufficient

Staff are friendly but patients ratios are too much for one ain float. Not enough hours too many short shifts and cancellations.Wish there was more hours and better staffing. Easy to get burnt out.

Nice colleagues but heavy workload

Mission and values guide the work, staff are nice but best if all only 2 days a week in the office. Parking is diabolical so if you can get public transportation then do it. A good place to work overall.

Good staff camaraderie, very poor building

The building is falling down around their ears, and needs a thorough renovation or rebuild. Otherwise, staff are well supported and patient care is good.

Unsupported management

Worked for 14 months as a casual. Management rang me to say I had received negative feedback from another member of staff, then cancelled my upcoming shift without even giving me a chance to defend myself. Unless you are from Toowoomba and know everybody it is a very cliquey place to work and no loyalty or compassion is shown.

Pros

Good work life balance

Cons

Unsupported uncaring management.

Great place to work

The management care about their staff and give them time off when needed. I enjoy working here because the patient load is not crazy but you are always busy

Wonderful place to work

Great culture and supportive staff, highly recommended for any Allied health professionals considering applying for a position. Management and colleagues great, environment on wards also positive.

Over All Hospital Culture is good, but not IT

difficult to work in IT They do not train helpdesk, users are dissatisfied the way IT help desk operates. I started with helpdesk, there are lot of phones calls, keeps so busy, but there is no growth, can't learn any thing

Toxic management

Too many cooks have definitely spoiled the broth.Mgmt is top heavy. Micro managing.Whereas positions for senior staff (non patient contact!) being created every other week means it’s almost insulting to work hard barely zmangaging your case load of 5-6 + meds+ co-signing DD’s ext, whilst these “senior staff” just sit back and nit pick you’r practice

Location

Cons

Toxic culture.

Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend working at the hospital. Great benefits. Management is very supportive and approachable. They provide training for staff if they are interested in upskilling.

Productive and fun

I was ANUM and it was fun working in the multidisciplinary team. I always look forward to working there and made a lot of life long friends from there.I have learnt a lot of my skills from the rehabilitation unit which I will carry for life.

Challenging and difficult place to work.

If you're not a clinical staff member (nurse, doctor, allied health) you are treated bad. When taking on a management role, you are given little to no training or assistance in that role. Expected to learn on your own and magically know what to do.Decisions made by higher-ups make no sense and do not benefit team or hospital. As a single, child-free male employee, I was given mainly late shifts or 'floater' shifts. No work-life balance.Toxic work colleagues. Take their frustration and anger out on you if they're having a bad day, or go behind your back to bad mouth you.Lack of communication - receiving updates at either a moments notice or not at all.

Pros

Close to home

Cons

Difficulty in finding parking, no career advancement, lack of respect, I could go on.
