Can't keep staff, so everyone else is overworked
Working '38' hours is a myth. There is an expectation to work 1.5hrs overtime each day, even if not exactly spoken about; this would be due to being understaffed. The company as a whole do not work together nicely. When there are certain departments for each division of Stratco and its products, none of them seem to help each other, leaving unresolved issues and blaming of problems. Retail stores seem left to fix issues they are not part of, even though the retail staff are meant to be serving customers, there is too much work put on them that is not 'their' job, meaning they are then expected to work unreasonable hours. The whole company needs a massive system overhaul in order for their issues to be resolved, even minor issues seem to be ignored if they don't affect management enough.
Pros
Great Pay, more interesting than most retail work, great discounts
Cons
Long hours, un-cohesive team

Toxic work environment with Toxic management
Trade sales representitive (Former Employee) - Newcastle NSW - 10 August 2020
Stratcos state retail management team and the other "supporting" staff members who offer you assistance never provide you with help. I worked at Stratco for a little over a year and not once did I feel the management would provide assistance. In advance to that, the store I worked at had toxic store manager. This man would only provide assistance if you were doing well in regards to your KPI's and never offer assistance if it meant you would beat him. Small minded people making poor business decisions in the retail sector.
Further to this, excellence was never once commended. If you achieved your targets and exceeded by a long way, you were never congratulated.Poor incentive structure depending on what side of the business you are on. For me, I was never made aware that there was an incentive on offer until I randomly received one. But in saying that, the incentive structure seemed to change month to month and would never be the same.
Pros
Good team members
Cons
Poor management

Not a great place
Trade Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Canning Vale WA - 6 August 2020
Terrible place to work, culture is toxic, everything is too hard. Management at a National Level is poor, they don't trust anyone that hasn't worked in the business for less than 10 years.

Worst place I’ve worked
Worker (Former Employee) - Adelaide SA - 24 May 2020
I worked there for over 1 year and I can honestly say that if it weren’t for the horrible way management treated myself and other people, I’d still be there.
They have Un reasonable expectations and you never get any appreciation for the hard work you put in, anything that goes wrong is never accepted and the blame is constantly passed to the people below management.

Great Team - All the staff work well together
Sales Assistant (Part-time) (Current Employee) - St Agnes SA - 14 January 2020
Stratco is a family owned business, this reflects on the lifestyle and ways the company goes about training and learning procedures. Making sure all the team is prepared for any situation they may be faced with.

It was up to the individual to whether their day was going to be hard or not .
Storeperson/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) - Laverton VIC - 7 January 2020
Great place to work at, management had a great attitude towards their staff and gave them respect. Which showed on the quality of workmanship. Unfortunately they moved locations and it wasn't feasible for myself.

Toxic place to work
Retail Sales (Former Employee) - Epping VIC - 27 November 2019
Toxic and demeaning culture that has no heart. Sacked me for no reason and had to get out immediately. More products in patios and roofing are way overpriced

The worst sales team culture
Trade Sales account Manager Queensland (Former Employee) - Yatala QLD - 29 October 2019
Stratco would have to be the worst sales team culture for any business i have been in. A real boys club and the less work you do the more you are promoted. If you work hard and do your job you get punished and treated poorly. Management really only talk to the boys club and the office is overly full of gossip....if you want to have a good work place, dont work here!!!

Unfortunately, like many businesses it lacks experienced and quality management due to transiant nature of the Northern Territory economy.
