The work is relatively easy. You can embrace the work, customers and culture and love it, or hate everything about it. There is plenty of scope to progress your career if you want it, follow procedure, be prepared to change as products change, and work fast.

Fast paced, friendly workplace

It depends on what restaurant you work at, but overall the experience was great. Paid well and paid for weekends and public holidays. Management were easy to get along with.

Actual realistic jobs roles, compared to what was mentioned during the interview compared to expectations now are far different.

I have managed to achieve some impressive goals in my very short time as Manager - including the first REVS Pass for the store in more than five previous evaluations! Upon finding out only 48hrs prior to the check of how badly the restaurant has previously performed.Without knowing this previously I had already begun many improvements in-store including retraining, maintenance, cleaning and customer experience intiatives… With gaining this first Pass that was seemingly impossible for the store I have equally not received even a ‘Thankyou’ from any senior staff, nor the owners, instead simply just able to gain the smile and appreciation of a few of my good, reliable and productive staff.On top of this no appreciation for the constant excessively long hours in my own time to improve the Stores quality from the Front door, all the way to the Back! Yes, working for free and even paying to get basic improvements and organisational things done. The processes are outdated, the system has multitudes of fail points, and the staff are overworked and underpaid. I don’t show this to anyone, I am a professional through and through, but change needs to happen or the Subway brand is going to struggle to stay around for much longer in it’s current form.The jobs are not, instead they are made difficult, primarily by a poor outdated system and a very poor training process

fun work place

I really looking forward to working with u and taking deliveries to people that does not have a car. and I'm not good at cooking because my cooking is really slow process

Fun place to work, management will make or break

Although working at Subway was overall fun, management at this store was oppressive, intrusive, and inconsiderate. With an inane amount of disrespect.

So much fun and great environment

Always an action packed day with different people to serve and different sandwiches to create. Was definitely exciting to wane up and go to work everyday

Not great

Generally all the owners are money hungry people who don’t care about their workers. They don’t care if you’re stressed or don’t have enough time. They have their own best interests in mind, and make you think they’re treating you well when they’re really not. The customers are also the most annoying type of person you’ll ever meet. It’s really not that hard to answer a couple of simple questions and not be rude. I worked for subway for 9 years all up and it honestly made me hate working, it made me stressed, and I don’t know anyone who’s worked at Subway who hasn’t hated it.

Dedicated staff members who have been there for over 2 years. HAs good retention and low turn over rate. The owner is extremely friendly and understanding. She allows each employee to have a good work to life balance

As a typical fast food industries, it is good to work and earn some money but not to make as a career. Good for investments. Good business as it tends to grow,

Subway was like a family

Subway was like a family. We worked in a fun, respectable environment, were we treated everyone equal. Managing was a big step up for me so i had to learn quick. I matured very quickly in this role, cause not only do i need to look out for myself but i had 15 other people to be responsible for. Every day i was learning something new, i came in knowing nothing about managing and walked out being a strong more independent worker

Good job but stressful for management

It was an enjoyable job at times and was like working with family but management was difficult and you do not get much free time out of work. Customers can be enjoyable but like any workplace there are always the difficult ones.

Fun and Accommodating

It's a really great place to work at, they give you great staff discounts and are always accommodating of your schedule. The management is fantastic and the environment is very friendly

Extremely customer service focused. Franchisee owned.

Good start in hospitality, but no good for career progression. Franchisee owned so if you have desire for management buy one of your own. If in role of store management, your role and job description is entirely up to the franchisee. You will not see figures or know goals or expectations. You work with blind KPIs. You are at the mercy of business decisions that are made at a head office level that make it extremely hard for the franchisee to make a profit and the decisions have been on a downward slope over the last three years. National promotions are popular but Subway is unable to keep a continuous supply of promotional products resulting in out of stock items on your menu and disappointed customers. Can at times be a challenging customer service role as you prepare food for the customer in front of the customer. Lunch rushes are full on in your face no stopping one customer after the other so communication and organization are must have skills. Usually work with a great bunch of people and you will probably make life long friends. Recommend for uni students wanting to make extra money but frankly its getting too hard for anyone else.

Great Place to work but little pay.

Subway is a nice place to work you are treated extremely well and there are many opportunities for advancement within the company. However the pay scale is on minimum wage and isn't something that is sustainable.

fast food

opening the day setting up for the crazy lunch rush which you would do so much prep for to be gone in less than 2 hours. then the tidy up making sure enough bread and salads for the night rush and the next morning before you get a chance to do it again the owner was great when i worked there

Healthy

I was training as store manager and the staff were very accepting and helped me a lot. Owner was kind enough but as soon as I had a personal situation to attend to, she sacked me for no reason.

not getting paid right getting robbed constantly not enough security working 60 hours plus dont get paid super sick pay or holiday pay

First Job Experience

I have been very loyal to this brand, I started out as a sandwich artist and worked my way up into a Manager. I'm looking forward to moving into a new direction of my career.

productive, well organized

go in at 6.30am, prepare store for opening at 8am by baking breads, cookies and pastries fresh in store, preparing salads and meats in display, opening till, making sure enough stock prepped for lunch rush than 7.50am placing sign work outside as well as seating. As soon as store is open continue baking, serving customers breakfast options up until 11am, making orders for schools or businesses if any for that day, prepping food, placing stock orders if need to on that day, dishes, cleaning, checking threw daily cleaning list to make sure up to standard. lunch rush, night staff start at 5 than most of the main cleaning is to be done, more food prep, customer service, dishes, making sure everything is up to standard and ready for open staff, packing products away at end of night, bringing in seating and signage from front of store, settling the till, mopping floors, shutting shop making sure everything and done and shop is secure. I've learnt a lot from working and managing this business from team management, organising staff meetings and rosters, stocktake, opening and closing till, settling till making sure all money is accounted for, ordering stock, how to run a business from open to close and to make it the best it possibly can and to bring in as much business as possible. the hardest part of my job was to make double check and make sure stock orders were up to scratch and there was enough product to last the week and to make sure business ran as smooth as possible, scariest part was monthly inspections from head office to see if work area, food and staff were all doing -
