it was a good company that teaches a lot about safety. and was very helpful showing how starting out underground would be. I am lucky to had been given a chance to work under and start with the company.
Excellent opportunity to polish up procurement skills, interesting workplace and friendly, approachable suppliers.
The hardest part was leaving when I finished as it really was a hands on, high personal contact role.
Typical day would consist LV pre-start then 1 hour commute to site, cross shift meeting then mine meeting after that would collect stores and head underground. once arrived at the drill rig would complete a WPI (work place inspection) and start greasing rig. Finally would move on to drilling and would continue until it was time to leave. Once we made the surface would wash down LV and and off load core samples and pre pair notes for cross shift.
I worked with Swick mining for two years doing fly in fly out it was hard work but rewarding I got to travel from Darwin to the Pilbara and the gold fields worked with great people and had some great times. they always used the best equipment and the best drill rigs.
