Upper management wants you to be a robot
Analyst (Former Employee) –  Kansas City, MO26 November 2018
Upper management wants a specific type of person and if you don’t fit that mold you will not go far. They ask for feedback and then you are penalized for giving it.
Pros
Flexible work hours
Cons
Few raises, bad culture

It all depends on your manager / team
Manager COO Office (Current Employee) –  Zürich, ZH20 November 2018
Functions within Swiss Re have very different cultures and work attitudes. This will also vary a lot regionally. Swiss Re can be a great place to work - if you work for the right people ;o)

Selbständiges Arbeiten
Technischer Angestellter (Former Employee) –  Adliswil, ZH5 November 2018
Die Swiss Re hat sich negativ entwickelt. Als Mitarbeiter wird man ausgepresst wie eine Zitrone. Dazu kommt noch die Auslagerung verschiedener Tätigkeiten.
Pros
Sehr gutes Mittagessen

good employer with flexible schedule
Information Specialist (Current Employee) –  Fort Wayne, IN24 October 2018
the workplace culture at Swiss Re is very flexible, which i found to be very helpful. Everybody wants to do the job and do it well, and even though there may be differing ideas on how to make that happen, everyone is striving for the same goal.
the hardest part of the job i found to be the time zones - since Swiss Re is an international company, sometimes the job required early morning meetings to connect with colleagues, but the flexible hours made these a little less painful.
the most enjoyable thing about the job was the people i was able to meet and connect with that I wouldn't normally have been able to meet otherwise.
Pros
flexible schedule, well set up infrastructure
Cons
time zones can present challenges

Good company to work for
Associate - Finance Reinsurance (Current Employee) –  Bengaluru, Karnataka13 September 2018
I have been working with Swiss Re for more than a year now and my experience with the firm has been pleasant so far. The firm really treats you as an asset and gives you a lot of opportunities to showcase your skills on various platforms and events.
The quality of work is great and you get to learn a lot while working here. Most of the roles involve a high level of complexity, which is great from a learning perspective. The firm also encourages going for certifications and higher studies.
The new office in EGL is one of the most lavish workspaces in Bangalore with amazing facilities that are at par with other top-tier investment banks and financial services organisations.
The only complaint I have is related to the salary levels. Even though the quality of work and facilities are as good as any other competitor firm, the compensation that Swiss Re offers is lower than most of the investment banks and reinsurance firms.
Pros
Meritocratic, good mobility within teams and locations, autonomy in work, beautiful state of the art office
Cons
Not a paymaster, flat hierarchy, slow promotions

Not a place for creative minds!
Vice President (Former Employee) –  Bangalore City, Karnataka9 July 2018
After working here for almost a year I feel that the Swiss Re's Bangalore branch could be a perfect place where the creative minds are suppressed and demolished (if a long time is spent). The organization seems to have found best secretive tips to kill curious minds. I would encourage job seekers to look for options somewhere else unless one want a mediocre fixed mindset, slaved by the senior authorities.
Pros
None actually, all seemingly attractive pros finally turns around against employees very soon after joining
Cons
Not a good place for diligent, smart and creative people.

Careers, Benefits, Leadership, and Culture
Senior Vice President (Former Employee) –  United States - various4 April 2018
To advance at the company you need to work in one of their primary locations. In the United States that would be Armonk, NY or Schaumburg, IL. Some offices are subject to a location strategy that limits the types of higher level jobs that may be worked from that specific location. On the other hand, if you are able to relocate to one of the main offices there are significant opportunities for advancement.

The company has a vibrant employee friendly policy on teleworking and flexible work arrangements. The company pays well overall, and has a generous benefit package which includes significant time off depending on your role and length of service.

The management/leadership competence is hit and miss. The company promotes Leadership Imperatives, but their demonstration at some of the higher levels of leadership is not apparent.

The corporate culture has changed over the last few years and has become less collegiate as between leaders and sometimes between leaders and their staff. It is still a rather white male dominated leadership group in the United States and in Europe, though the company does promote diversity in the workplace.

Love working with Swiss Re, if I could relocate with them I would never leave. Work/life balance is incredible. So many days off with early closing prior to national holidays.
