Teacher (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 1 November 2021
Teaching at TAFE is very rewarding as the students want to be there and learn. You can concentrate on the subject rather than having to motivate them constantly. This doesn't mean you can ignore making the lesson engaging.
Pros
Good working environment
Cons
Strange hours, start at 4 for example.

Cohesive, Caring and Cooperative
Casual Full-Time Teacher (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 15 November 2020
TAFE NSW is a great place to work. I have finally found my niche after more than two decades of working in a very difficult environment (a well known public hospital in Camperdown), where job insecurity, bullying, toxic environment was a standard expectation. At TAFE NSW, job satisfaction is finally a reality as is work flexibility. I have to pinch myself to believe I have such a great job!

8 yrs fulltime toxic backstabbing hypicrites
Teacher (Former Employee) - Western nsw - 11 August 2020
After 8 yrs fulltime employment the hypocrisy and nepatism was to much. TAFE nsw have a god complex and spend far to much tax payers money hiding the truth, they certainly dont get audited with the same criteria as private rto's, they would be out of business in any public sector. My section had poorly skilled tradesman teaching anything but the unit guide content, no student fails and teachers are far from being current
Pros
Staff are protected while performing managments dodgy duties, like deleting credits and enroling students in units they have already done.
Cons
If you speak up you will be bullied out of employment using any tactics available.

challenging
Part Time Casual Teacher (Current Employee) - NSW North Coast NSW - 13 January 2020
Some great staff and students to work with. Organisation in constant state of change.
Pick a different wall each day to bang your head against.
Systems are "clunky & outdated."
Equipment is non existent- need a printer- good luck finding one that works.

no longer employed by TAFE
Teacher (Former Employee) - Hunter Region Mc NSW - 7 September 2017
new to this web site looking for work at 60 not fun I can honestly say my 40 years plus It was a joy to go to work when I delivered in the class room but the passion left a little to be desired when most of my own spare time was spent on the documentation of data Rather than face to face assessing and teaching a student who was keen on learning a manual skill with no room to explore nor practice their new skill

Great Place to work
Part-time Casual Teacher (Current Employee) - Mt Druitt NSW - 10 February 2016
Great place to work, however State Government changes to "Smart and Skilled" has resulted in a massive decline in enrollments resulting in very little work for casual part time teachers.
Pros
relaxed atmosphere
Cons
long break with no work over christmas break

Fun and rewarding. Positive and challenging
Teacher - Electrical Power Line Worker, TAFE (Current Employee) - Sydney, NSW - 10 June 2015
Positive place to work, where all staff pull in the same direction.
All staff support each other, from head teacher down.
Can be a challenging job teaching, but very ,very rewarding at the end of the day.
Meet lots of characters, and teaches you how to use your personal skills to communicate.
