Good for experience.
Educator (Current Employee) - Victoria - 19 October 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIn my experience of working at TKs, I would not recommend sending your kids to most services. Some schools I've worked at, the kids were uncontrollable and having to deal with parents was often frustrating.

Don't fall for the marketing
Director (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 14 November 2023
If you are qualified, confident and good at your job, do not work for this company! By the time you leave you will be a shell of yourself. Bullying from management, very cliquey. If you are a favourite you become a friend and will climb the ladder fast. If you are not, you will not move at all and you will be constantly put under pressure with unrealistic expectations and gossiped about. They will tell you the dozens of pages of paperwork each week is a "legal requirement" but majority is not. A lot of admin expectations but will not give you the time or pay to do it. Management micromanaging everything you do. Very difficult to get support when dealing with challenging behaviours. Always short staffed. I consistent assistant educators. Now I've been with a different company for a fair period of time, it's opened my eyes to just how much TeamKids takes advantage of their staff. The most enjoyable part of the job? .the connections and professional relationships built with the children & families. When you are passionate about what you do then the children and families will give back ten fold.
Pros
Opportunity to work with children
Cons
Management bullying, cliquey crowds, unrealistic expectations, micromanaging

Lack Of Support from Management
In Service (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 7 November 2023
Having experienced both sides of this company it is very clear that they are all about the Quantity over Quality now days! Be prepared to put in more than your 38 hours per week as a full time worker and not get much support from management! Those in Head Office get treated like luxury where as those on the ground are treated really poorly and rarely given much voice or support from management.
Pros
Not Alor
Cons
Long Hours & Lack of Support

You will work more hours than you are paid for
DOS (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 3 November 2023
Support from management is pretty minimal. Don't expect useful advice if you have a problem, the regional managers don't really want to get involved if it means they have to do more than the bare minimum. They are prepared to hang you out to dry if it benefits them, they won't back you up against any parent complaint. Admin hours are a joke. To have an effective service you will be putting in more hours than what you are paid for.

Productive and fun workplace

It is great and plenty of shifts you can have. The staff are super nice and supportive of each other. I feel like there is not anything that is bad about the service I work at.

Expected to tolerate being overworked, underpaid and abused
Educator (Former Employee) - Mornington VIC - 15 September 2023
In my experience, I was expected to tolerate abuse from the children, families, coworkers and school staff. There was a lack of communication in all areas and I did not find that I was fairly compensated for the work I did, the workplace culture was extremely toxic, and felt I could never do enough to satisfy their demands, and was asked to work outside my job role to an extreme. I was placed in many unsafe situations, and found that this didn’t appear to be a concern to this employer at all. Their primary focus seemed to be raising numbers of enrolled children and making profits, rather than providing a safe and supportive environment for the children and staff. I ended up resigning when I felt so burnt out and was fed up with stretching myself extremely thin just for the stresses to continue and receive no support. I was expected and asked to purchase food for the service and was never reimbursed for this. I became exhausted with having to manage the concerns of the school, parents and children and received very little directions and strategies from manager and HR when I raised concerns, I became sick of having to constantly protect myself and my safety, feeling belittled and threatened by school staff, parents, and other educators. The money is just not worth the amount you are expected to give and provide, they seem to just run off the good will of educators.

Don’t expect much
Educator (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 25 August 2023
I have heard worse things from other employers. You are lucky if you get to stay at one school permanently without moving around. There’s a lack of communication within HR staff, one person says one thing, another says differently.

Great support & ability to evolve within the company.
Educator (Former Employee) - Victoria - 18 August 2023
A great place to work, with othe like minded educators. Plenty of hours available as an educator, longer hours over school holidays for educators. Opportunities to up-skill and move in the business are plentiful and encouraged .

Underpaid and overworked.
2IC (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 2 August 2023
Services are struggling without adequate staff and HR is focused on cutting costs and increasing service locations. Staffing is incredibly rude and unhelpful. Holidays are choas and most directors aren't even aware of the paid breaks the award entitles everyone to have. Employees are not appreciated whatsoever.

A Breath of Fresh Air: My Remarkable Experience with TeamKids
Educator (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 14 June 2023
As an educator who has had her fair share of disappointing experiences in the past, I couldn't be happier to have found my way to TeamKids. This incredible organization has truly restored my faith in the field of education and reignited my passion for working with children. From the moment I joined their team, I knew I had stumbled upon something truly special. Having previously worked in other companies that failed to prioritize the needs and well-being of their employees, I was initially skeptical when I joined TeamKids. However, any doubts I had were swiftly dispelled. The moment I stepped into the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere of the workplace, I could sense that TeamKids was different. Their commitment to fostering a positive work environment is second to none.
Pros
Culture

Really poorly run organisation
Educator (Former Employee) - Victoria - 5 June 2023
Have a full report of the things that were bad about working for TK. Which I can’t fit in here. I’ll briefly try outline some. Lack of support from higher management and understanding. Staffing is a mess. Constantly trying to move you places last minute. Take on new services when they don’t have the staff to do so. Over subscribe services with numbers of children and not enough educators to Support it running well. I could go on.

Poor management and a toxic work culture
Director (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 2 June 2023
Behind the slick marketing is a company with poor management and a toxic work culture. It is little wonder that so many staff are leaving. Many staff are new to the industry and unqualified making it difficult to run the program and support them to learn, especially when there are children with challenging behaviour. Rostering can be a nightmare with such a high turnover of staff and uni students that are unavailable. It can be especially challenging when rostering for inclusion support. In the holidays, they often don't end up having inclusion support staff as they are just trying to meet the legal ratio (1:15). TeamKids keep taking on new services when they are struggling to staff the ones they already have. There are not enough admin hours to complete the work which includes food ordering, program planning, Lunchtime Legends program, clubs planning, term challenges and meetings. There is no paid overtime either. There is an 'in crowd' resulting in little chance for advancement.
Pros
Children and families, good resources
Cons
Management, toxic work culture, high turnover of staff, food budget is too low

Stressful place to work with minimal hours
Educator (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 2 June 2023
Worked in the company for 6 months before quitting. Little hours (got 2 hours each day). Little notice given before they moved you around. Staff was rude to new people. Management had no idea about what was happening within their own staff. Kids were hard to deal with too and there was no support in place for that. Overall, not a nice place to work out. The only decent thing was the salary.
Pros
Salary
Cons
Moved around too much, unhelpful staff, little hours

Most of the people I worked with were great, if you have had an issue they don’t tend to support you as a male and rather move you on.
Educator (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 19 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Can’t think of one after the experience I had What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lack of support from senior people. They would rather discard you when you’ve had an altercation than work through and educate through issues. Especially for a male. They didn’t follow up to make sure I was ok where a certain situation really affected me psychologically. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic to say the least. They come across as this progressive, equal opportunity and humanistic company. In the end just follow what’s easier to work with. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Just another educator who is expendable

Great place to work
Educator (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 15 May 2023
TeamKids is great if you're looking for a casual or part time job while studying. But you really have to love working with kids as you're working with them while they're still waking up or tired from a school day! There's plenty of opportunities to step up in this company.

Toxic place
Director (Current Employee) - Melbourne City Centre VIC - 5 May 2023
They have a very positive speech and promise a lot of support. However, it’s all fake and when you need anything basic you don’t have. People are often pushed into shifts or location changes they are not happy with and have said no. The management is poor and they don’t care for the mental and physical wellbeing of their employees. They fake a lot of info and documents for the parents and even for the Department of Education. A disgusting company to work at.
Pros
Free food
Cons
No paid overtime

Good program but poor management
Educator (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 3 May 2023
I have been working with team kids for almost a year. I love to work with different schools and different staff. The program is very educational and fun. The kids love the incursion and excursions during the school holidays. However, the management has been very terrible recently. During school holidays, I got a shift at one school and I went there in the morning. After one hour, the staffing team called the service and asked me to go to another school. I went to another school and the coordinator said that they don’t need me there so I came back to the original school. The staffing team promised to pay me extra two hours for petrol and travelling. However, the payroll team sent me an email one week later saying that it wasn’t written down on the notes. They won’t pay me. Besides, I got an after-school care shift at one school. My shift started at 3:00 pm. The director of the school called me at 2:55 pm. I was driving so I didn’t answer her call. When I arrived at the school, I saw another educator just arrived, too. We went in and the director said that she got a call from the staffing team, one of us has to go home because the service was on the ratio. It was ridiculous. The staffing team treats their staff like a ‘ball’. If they want you they ask you to go everywhere, and if they don’t want you, just kick you away.
Pros
Good program and friendly staff
Cons
Poor management and cancelling or changing your shifts at last minutes
