Amazing place to work!

The whole team are like a family and are dedicated to the improvement and advocacy of people with mental illness and disabilities. Couldn’t be more grateful or inspired to work for this amazing organisation.

Toxic workplace

Cannot talk for all the programs but the Child and Family Preservation is very toxic. No equal growth opportunities for everyone and bully staff if you disagree with Management

Awful experience. Terrible management

Started off good. Management changed however and the team was exposed to intimidation, stress, zero support, workplace politics, terrible leadership, unrealistic timeframes, burnout and no option of overtime pay only TIL. Team was told to “start fresh” by management, without acknowledging staffs feelings and concerns, they did not address the real issue, leading to most of the team leaving. The company needs to have a good look into the staff who are managing teams.

Pros

Lovely team members

Cons

Management.

manager and team leaders had favourites and only promoted their favourites and friends even when those individuals did not have the relevant work experience

Pros

Cons

unhealthy leadership team

Not an inclusive workplace

1. Lied about offering a full time role and offered part time instead.2. Managers are nowhere to be seen throughout the week.3. Managers don't guide you during probation period and bring up/ nit pick flaws in your work when you ask for certain entitlements. They make their employees feel bad about their work.4. Team leader comments on personal characteristics and not at all inclusive in their practice.

Na

Worked here for years and you used to be able to have a say in your position.. not now!.. so much constant micromanagement and now you are just expected to take on role after role and additional work.. goodluck getting more than 2 weeks leave over busy periods, and if your stat's aren't up to scratch due to being given so much work, they will just put you on a plan.. pay ok, but zero support from team leaders... only reason I stay is for my flexible work hours and the weekend overtime.. don't get me started about system issues either.. it's always who sucks up the most that

Overall a great company to be with.

Like all employers you are only as good as your people. You can not control outside influences like covid, family circumstances, and ongoing career aspirations. The Benevolent Society are great to work with. Supportive when needed otherwise you have a good amount of autonomy.

Pros

Encouraged to find your own answers and then suggest changes.

Cons

Long hours, some days with high children numbers it can get stressful.

Very bad management, do not work here

The pay is good but the management is really bad. The HR never stand up for the staff, the team leader is such a bully, communication is really bad, not suportive to people from multicultural background, very unhealthy place to work with as it will make you so stress and close to depression. Anything you do will be always wrong

No room for advancement unless your a yes person and fit the mould in a certain way. Massive divide between management and staff no proper communication or being heard!

Pros

Wages are good

Cons

No one cares

Terrible place to work

bullied by 2 separate team leaders - who were rewarded. They chew you up and spit you out like rubbish at the end. Management/team leader are very small minded people, living a very small life.... intoxicated by their sense of power

Pros

Enjoyable

I worked here on reception and then in payroll. Whilst there were problems within the organisation and with some staff in particular, overall it was an enjoyable place to work. I wouldn't say it was the best place I have worked, nor the worst. People on the whole were friendly and competent. However, my specific department, Payroll, was quite frustrating with some incompetent staff with limited people skills. I definitely outgrew my role and was pleased to leave, although I hold no negative feelings and theoretically I would work there again.

Pros

Nice people, good services, friendly culture

Cons

Slow to address problematic behaviour

widespread community travel

Community and clinic based NDIS provider of services, there was limited clinicians at times and you were expected to travel to another office and treat patients giving a high number of clients and limited time to follow up or alter appointments if clients are unwell or have other appointments etc. Billing is paramount and they like to even Bill for short 5 minute phone calls or emails. I was asked to travel as far as Bondi, Bowral, Goulburn to see clients and was still expected to meet the requirements for billings despite spending hours driving that could not be billed.

Pros

flexible hours

Cons

Lots of travel

Excellent company

Best not for profit. Good people, locations, flexibility, salary - apply as they are worth it. I had 6 great years there before I moved on to another role.

Friendly, supportive and ethical. Values, philosophy and workplace culture align. Fast faced environment suits flexible and positive attitudes. Approachable management, co-operative and democratic. Working for the benefit of others and for social justice goals is rewarding. Making a difference for people in their lives.
