Why be a Chef at The Star Entertainment Group

A Message from Matt Bekier

Our vision is to be Australia’s leading integrated resort company. And our properties in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast - with their ongoing and planned investments - continue to position us as the country’s premier dining, entertainment and tourism destinations. Talented people delivering service excellence to more than 20 million guests a year are at the heart of everything we do. From our guest-facing hospitality and gaming team members, to those who work behind the scenes, our collective ambition is to deliver unique and memorable experiences. We also take pride in creating a diverse, inclusive and welcoming environment at The Star for guests and team members alike. This remains a key focus for us as an organisation and we continue to ensure The Star maintains a place of leadership in this space. I trust you’re as excited by our future ambitions as I am, and invite you to join us on the journey. I look forward to welcoming you to The Star.

Mardi Gras Sydney Celebrations

The Star Sydney is a proud supporter of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and has been an Official Partner since 2016. At The Star, we strive to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for our workforce of around 4,500 team members and the millions of local, domestic and international guests we welcome each year - irrespective of their race, age, gender, beliefs or sexual orientation. Spectrum, our employee action group for LGBTQI inclusion, was formed in 2014 and promotes inclusion across The Star Entertainment Group’s properties in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, whilst also working closely with our Executive Team. Spectrum has established representation of The Star’s LGBTQI community at all levels and embedded support across the business. The group continues to build its network of passionate and active LGBTQI team members and allies. Internally, The Star also raises awareness of, and funds for, events important to the LGBTIQ community including IDAHOT, Wear it Purple Day and World AIDS Day. In 2020, The Star was named as a Bronze Tier Employer on the Australian Workplace Equality Index. While we are pleased with the progress we have made in creating a diverse, welcoming and inclusive environment for all, we recognise there is more work to be done. We are committed to building on the significant strides we have taken so far, and dedicated to working with internal and external LGBTQI groups to ensure The Star is a leader in championing diversity and inclusion.
