The Star Entertainment Group Employee Review

Great for those singles who need training, structure and hours in their job

My job was to deal games briskly, minimise errors and make money for the company. I learned about repetitive work and repetitive strain. Surveillance will want you to clean your hands. The gamblers hope you keep paying them. The managers want you to quicken your game turnover. The environment is toxic due to gambling addicts, sore losers and drunks. Whatever you do is never good enough for the neurotic, drunk, and the mischievous. Then there are tricksters hoping to fool you and score. The wages are good for singles renting a room. These days the high cost of living may dwarf the wages. After a few years I began to question my career direction. My efforts were not noticed and it was hard to get promoted. Many managers enjoy watching dealers get burnt by gamblers. Or they don't care, because gamblers are the main source of income. Nepotism and temporary alliances among staff are common. After leaving I was confronted with reality: My casino skills are not so transferable. If you're smart, make worthwhile connections. Easy to say, right?

Pros

Some meals, uniform & some training

Cons

Toxic environment, repetitive tasks & minimal help from managers

The work is easy. Unlike most office or corp jobs you do not have to take any of your work home. The job does much require much labour, It is relatively easy on the body but does require some repetitive tasks. Bad for tall people as it requires alot of looking down.

Pros

Free meal, Star Discount.

Cons

working at night. Repetitive. Not meaningful work
