Productive and fun workplace with a cafeteria, computer room and lockers. learned to communicate to others, follow orders, Show respect to others. Help others who fall behind on the job.The hardest part of the job was doing my job and then helping other people who fall behind.
locker rooms and Cafeteria
Surveillance positions at The Star Sydney are overworked and underpaid. Control Room conditions are the worst within the state regarding pay and workload. Management is poor, the Director hasn't got a clue. Please take this advice from someone who gave almost 5 years to that Department and look elsewhere for Control Room positions.
Pay, Management, Workload...
100% focus on customer service, Product knowledge, Upselling, Occupational Health and Safety issues, time management and people skills. These aspects in the workplace can give good service to customers. With my experience it never goes wrong.
Getting customers feedback, more chances of improving the staffs weaknesses
get bad feedback, not good for reputation of the business, customers think the employees need more training
This place destroys morale, management bullies staff. The pay is underwhelming when compared to other control rooms, which all only have a fraction of the work load. Switching shifts between days and nights every two weeks, except when youre on "swing shift" which is every second month or so, where you switch multiple times per week, its extremely unhealthy. The work environment is very toxic, staff members step on each other to get ahead. The job also requires you to give two months written notice if you want to leave, and if you fail to do so they strip you of all leave entitlements and payouts. Multiple staff members have also been the subject of unfair dismissal, so there isnt even any job security. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for work, I'm writing this becauss I dont want anyone else to go through what my workmates and I went through. Literally any other control room job is better, keep looking, stick with regular security until you find something else.
Some staff are ok
Literally everything else

Worked at the STAR for nearly 5 years and in my time made great friends which I will keep for a lifetime. Very comfortable pay and working conditions. Definitely, a place to try if you're in the hospitality industry.

-Highly recommend for people to work at the Star Casino! -What I found most enjoyable was becoming friends with so many people, from different cultures and backgrounds -Career paths are endless -Always able to get cross trained in other departments -Always extra shifts available to pick up in the Events department -Fun atmosphere! -Very fast paced -Everyone works as a team, and you are working alongside happy outgoing like minded people!
Be a team player. Plenty of different departments.Lots of possibilities for promotion. Hours are 24/7. They have lots of in house traing. Even cross training in other departments. Learning new tables games and promotion to supervisor position. 5 weeks annual leave.
Free lunch and parking on site at a discounted rate
Fabulous place to work at. Management are very professional and follow correct protocol. News is not always communicated and passed on efficiently which does make it difficult if you are casual and only work a few days a week and therefore not been updated on changes and events.

Like other IT organizations, the STAR IT is getting funnier, no idea what has happened in this world. IT is not that a serious business anymore as used to be. No one shows respect to IT; IT itself makes things worse. If to blame, it should blame to those 'expertise'. When gold and sand mixed, the real gold has to go to the bottom.
It's a fun place to work, but has limited career opportunities and creates a narrowed focus on business. The team environment is excellent, and you'll create friends for life. If you enjoy the gaming industry, it's the perfect environment.
Free lunch, uniforms cleaned, discounted city parking.
High pressured environment, LONG shift-work hours, heavy regulation
