Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedNice friendly workplace with the benefit of earning extra money via there bonus system. I was trained in Toyota Vehical air conditioning systems and Toyota & Mazda accessory fitting. My fellow co workers were an asset to my lerning as I was to theirs. The mose enjoyable part of my job was doing a big fitting and conversion job to vehicals with the happy customer driving away amazed at what I had done for them and the quality of the work involved in such a short amount of time

Challenging and intersting to work
Maintenance Fitter (Former Employee) - Altona VIC - 5 April 2018
As a maintenance fitter,I worked attached to Paint shop maintenance section.
At first I had to do morning checks for all of the machines to make sure that they are ready for production.
Recheck in case any machines have any outstanding issues.
Repairing broken parts in order to use them again
Preventive Maintanance checks
During my work, I have learnt new skills, I coordinate with production management maintenance management engineers and production line workers to minimise my breakdown time.
I work as a team member all the time. We share our knowledge and help each other as needed.
I am always enjoying myself as a maintanance worker however some work made us over thinking. End of the day we all satisfied.
I enjoy the working environment and ensuring the machines run smoothly.
Pros
meal vouchers, Discount vehicles
Cons
Decided to shutdown.

Interesting and unique workplace
Mechanical Fitter (Former Employee) - Altona - 14 August 2014
A typical day working at TMCA included fabrication of various mechanical components and carrying out tasks that were delegated to me. These included diagnosing and repairing breakdowns of machinery and plant equipment, performing preventative maintenance i.e servicing equipment.
Whilst working for TMCA, I learned many things, including the skills required to become an Australian recognized fitter and turner. I was often tasked with welding, how to repair and install pneumatic circuits, machining work using lathes and milling machines, cylinder re-kits, installation and assembly of pumps.
Management at TMCA could be improved in a number of areas, especially in the field of delegation. I found that there were more than enough managers, which often got confusing in regards to whom I was reporting to. However, I dealt with plenty of fair managers during my 5 years there which made day-to-day operations easier. I got along well with all colleagues and never had any issues.
Difficulties arose for me working at TMCA in the area of fairness- team leaders would often delegate the less than desirable jobs to myself and and a select few for reasons none other than the fact that the other employees were not able to carry them out.
The most enjoyable part of working at TMCA was the fact that every day was a learning opportunity. I was also able to travel to a number of different departments, which enabled me to gain experience in plenty of different fields, something I am grateful for.

Maintenance Fitter / Team Leader (Former Employee) - Toyota Altona - 2 June 2012
.The last 6 - 9 months view & report previous shift breakdowns to members. Meet with management regarding reports. Return to workshop & talk to members regarding the running of the Press Shop & maintaining maintenance work. .Learned how to work safely & not to endanger my members at work & to have good communication with members. .Had good communication with production management regarding setting work for maintenance members. .Enjoyed working with co-workers for the last 23 years. Socialising - Footy trips, fishing trips etc. .The hardest part of the job was when machine needed work to be done & management would not give us access to carry out the work safely. .The most enjoyable part of the job was helping the members discussing & communicating work. Meeting in group room having lunch together.
Pros
free barbecues & pizza celebrating 5 & 10yrs anniversaries
