For the public sector money is good. Hours are generally less than 40 hours a week. Pressure not too bad. Like for like jobs generally pay better base salary than private sector (albeit no bonus / stock)

Secure job, pay isn't bad but many decisions made by managers that have no rail experience. Start times is all over the place, as expected in rail shift work. Hard to get time off sometimes.

TOXIC beware

Horrible shocking culture. It is know within government of being one of the most toxic agency, despite being one of the highest paying agencies. A person in my team, in my first month, quit after 7 weeks despite being on 120K.
