Tutor doctor gives you the freedom to choose which students you can teach and also give you students within a 15km radius. This allows tutors to sort their time and teach other students.

Decent Pay, struggle for opportunities

During university, tutoring provides a good oppurtunity to earn some money while not being too time instrusive, however finding multiple clients is a challenge.

Beware

You will be promised great things and left with gas-lighting andghosting. Think about the hourly rate here (average $28 p/h). No normal person will travel a distance, have prepped and walked away in an hour. Very surprised Tutor Doctor has not been flagged before. Management are there in the beginning, then disappear, don't respond to emails, and finally completely silence you.

Pros

Promises a secure job, good prospects

Cons

Tenuous employment, no job security, dodgy business model.

Good extra income

Job is good if like having abit of extra cash, management sometimes did guilt me onto having more students than I could handle and travel is bit much too especially because they do not compensate travel. Some students are also unreliable and hard to reach.

Pros

opportunity to have pay raise

Cons

Inconsistent shifts

Excellent Management, Great Flexibility

The management here is excellent; bosses are responsive, helpful and extremely kind and give you great advice, making the job clear for you. The work is extremely rewarding, and seeing your tutees gain valuable knowledge and improve their skills is great to see.

Pros

Great Pay

Cons

difficult to get enough hours sometimes

Good if you are a uni student but not worth it for the travel

- Not too bad as there are typically only 1-hour sessions per student. However, you will end up having student one after the other on the same day for a few days a week. - There is no management in terms of work for the students as you have to find work every week. The management of the admin is great and they get back to you within the day typically. - I would recommend this as a second job

Pros

Can tutor online

Cons

No compensation for travel, not all people are willing to do online tutoring

Good pay, not compensated for travel

The people are all very nice and check in with you regularly. It's good pay but you have to travel a lot for only an hour's work and you aren't compensated for that time.

Pros

Pay, culture

Cons

Short hours, travel

A good start to tutoring

Tutor Doctor was the first company I've worked for. This position is suitable for a university student but is not very sustainable in the long run. They pay you the bare minimum for at home private tutoring so you're better off being a self employed tutor.Demands are not very big, they make you write reports after every session so they can pay you. However, they do not provide any material so you have to make it up by yourself. This is a big issue I had since I was working a little extra to prepare for other students who take difficult subjects, and a little to almost no preparation for younger students - I got paid the same not matter what.Finding more students is very difficult. Although they are all for "finding the right fit" for the student/tutor, you will not get many hours to work. Maybe if you are lucky you can spot up to 6 hours in the week. They put your hard earned $$ that the parents pay and put more than half of that into advertising... but all in all, this is an okay company.

Pros

Flexible hours

Cons

not enough hours

Welcoming and constructive workplace with great flexibility

The work environment is so friendly and welcoming, and I always feel I can talk to my manager if I need advice or support. There are resources available if you're unsure how to proceed with a certain lesson or topic. There's a lot of flexibility which is great, but keep in mind that it's not always super consistent as students can always cancel - it's good casual work, but don't rely too much on it. Pay is pretty good, and you can have as many or as little students as you like. It's great helping young people gain confidence and meet their potential in their learning.

Enjoyable

Tutor Doctor Central Coast has been very responsive to any questions I have asked or support needed. I enjoyed working with the families on working out times and days that suit us both, and the students have been amazing!I highly recommend Tutor Doctor as an employer, especially for the experience in the diverse learning needs of children.

Pros

Plan your time

Cons

Travel

Tutor

Private tutoring for Tutor Doctor. Process involves tutoring the students in their own homes. Largely independent in approach, individualised and focused on their strengths and weaknesses.

Excellent boss, straightforward work

The boss is great. He simply organises for you to meet with students and it's all very easy. The only real con is that you have to travel to respective students' houses which can be a hassle and time-consuming. At least the pay rate makes up for this.

Pros

Great boss

Cons

Travel can be time-consuming

Challenging and Enjoyable

Overall, I find working for Tutor Doctor professionally challenging. I do need to do significant planning at times, but this often mirrors my day job and so strengthens my teaching skills. The students I tutor are usually a pleasure to teach so, in this sense, the sessions are very rewarding. I am not doing it for monetary gain as there is much travel involved, but I will keep doing it as long as it is enjoyable and personally engaging.

Pros

Great students; reasonable pay for one-to-one tutoring

Cons

Travel time; preparation time; session report writing
