The Army Reserve

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The Army Reserve is a great place to start or further a career. I work on the logistics side because it was close to what I already know and helped me to get credentials in crane operating and rigging. Unfortunately, at my reserve unit we don't touch the machines much or perform PCMS, we get a lot of training on fundamental Army knowledge. The leadership at my unit is better than other units as long as you are doing what needs to be done.

Pros

Good leadership, Learn Army knowledge, Tuition help

Cons

Don't really train in my MOS, Feel like I should have been active, process for active takes too long, lhi, pha

Job is great, the co-workers suck.

I have learned a lot at the job so far. The FSR's are awesome, positive and helpful. Honestly, the management is no problem to me. It's the co-workers on the opposite shift. They are a bunch of cry-babies & lazy. We do almost all of the work on the 1st shift. All they have to do is watch the camera. The complain and complain about ever little thing. Other than that, the company is decent to me, and the actual job is fun, interesting & a learning process. If/When the AeroStat goes down for whatever reason(s), it's time to really get to work all 12hr none stop (besides lunch) so if it's winter time, be prepared because it's cold. Brruuuuhh, it's cold.

Pros

Free wifi, phone to call back to U.S., Awesome break room's, Easy work

Cons

Vacation should be every 3-4mo w/paid travel, but its 1x every 6mo for 2wk out our own pocket.

Military Life

It is nearly impossible to conduct a proper review on what it is to serve in the Army for over 10 years in a combat role during a time of war. So, I will leave it at that.

Pros

Excellent benefits and lifelong friends

Cons

Possibility of dying

Very productive, professional workplace.

Everyone in my workplace is constantly training and practicing to improve their personal abilities to assist with mission accomplishment. On a daily basis these personnel inspire others to do the same. The management is unparalleled, which is the most enjoyable part of the job, but also the hardest part of the job. Being a leader has been challenging, but overall successful. The people that I am responsible for leading all look up to me for guidance on a daily basis.

Pros

A lot of time off, benefits, job security, physical fitness.

Cons

Heavy work load, long days, a lot of time away from my family.

I love my job

I enjoy working with the Soldiers, teaching, coaching and mentoring them to be the best at our job. The hardest part of the job is explaining to people who do not share the same MOS about the Supply System or getting information that we need for reports and deadlines.

Secure job and great training

I enjoyed working at this facility which is located in Natick, MA. Being a summer employee working in the field I was studying at college and returning as a project officer (Textile Technologist) after graduation was a great opportunity. The directorate I worked for provided extensive training to improve skills and meet career objectives in order to advance. Supervisors, co-workers, and administration was very supportive and informative. They want you to succeed and do well. The culture was mix of soldiers and civilians of many races and backgrounds. I remember travelling the country to conduct wear testing at various forts and centers which was such great experience as a young adult. I loved going to "Culture Day" which was set up in a main area where you could enjoy appetizers, candy, and beverages from many different countries. They have an annual summer family party where you could meet co-workers family members and eat, drink, and play games/activities.

Pros

training, supportive administration, employee benefits, retirement package

Cons

hiring freezes during difficult economic times.
