Productive environment with plenty of resources.
I really enjoyed my time working in the University of Sydney. I started as a tutor two subjects and subsequently gained more subjects after that. Besides tutoring, I were also given chance on setup new laboratory demonstration units for Thermal Engineering 1. After the completion of my doctoral degree, I got a change to work with an academic on three consulation projects that helps me broaden up my knowledge.

Good pay and super, very helpful colleagues and manager but very highload
The colleagues in my team are marvellous and very helpful and provides guidance, manager and director in the middle level are understanding but the workload is heavy due to shortage of funding and unrealistic expectation of the senior management and researchers who I serve who seem to be only interested in bringing in more funding for USYD.

Difficult and stressful
University of Sydney has a terrible culture. As a employee, I worked 15-20 hours beyond my paid work hours. Excessive pressure and stress year round. I cannot recommend Sydney Uni as an emoyer.

Fun, diverse workplace.
Remote management and admin is a double edged sword. Some great facilities but some are old and run down. This is slowly changing with upgrades in the pipeline.

No blame culture
I had the opportunity to work with a great manager in a small team. A common sense approach prevailed and the team were able to achieve great results.
