Manager in Queensland

Fast work environment where management has unrealistic expectation
Management expect too much from their employees. They have terrible communication and when it's not Christmas time, working hours aren't sustainable. The rest of my casual staff were amazing, we were like a family :) we all worked hard to reach managements expectations but when we missed them we were given dis logs/written... heck we were even written up for counting the till wrong when on shift alone

Overworked and Disrespected...
A lot of people are leaving including me, and I understand why. I personally, have worked so many solo shifts as a casual worker (and some managers), mostly during huge rushes where I can't get the store tidy, and are left with about a rack of put backs. However, I am expected to get rid of all of them, while tidying the store, while dealing with customers, while doing stock, and somehow manage all my time during a rush near the end of my shift to clear them all up... This would be possible if they ever shifted 2 people on at a time, which they almost never do after Christmas times. Even customers constantly ask us why we are working our shifts alone, I didn't know what to tell them sometimes. There is a clear hierarchy between some of the bigger managers and casuals, and I've seen it happen with friends that have been treated significantly worse by some upper managers, even when they have done nothing wrong. Dis logs are also so common place, and written up so frequently, especially to newer employees. If you have been taught once, you are expected to know if off by heart, and if something is not done to a tee you are written up. Not listening to manager instructions perfectly? Written up. Accidentally counting the EOD cash wrong? Written up. Forgot to tidy one section in the store? Written up. It is overall stressful, and a very toxic environment to work in. Please go find another retail store to work in...

Overworked and not supported
Valleygirl has such high expectations and managers work by themselves majority of the day. The company uses very little hours in all stores, mainly working by yourself all day and only having someone coming in for a lunch cover and sometimes even closing the store for lunch.. the company uses their managers to mainly staff the store, not using them as actual managers. The work load managers are given does not add up to the slaray that offered and no room for negotiation for higher salary.

Standard
Standard retail role I loved the brand and was given enough work but company is non existent now and is blended into temt who is the sister company and unfortunately the quality of clothing has definitely declined since then but it was a decent standard retail role

No customer service expectations, all focus on stock and visual merchandising.
Extreme expectations, fast paced, no personality, little money & long hours usually w/ out pay. I always thought Valleygirl would be the ultimate job but then I got a warning from being too customer service focused.
