Never able to keep staff on!
Cleaner - Part Time (Current Employee) - Blue Mountains NSW - 14 August 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPros: - People are friendly you work beside. - Doing the work on your own. - Experience. Cons: -Poor management. Went through 4 supervisors in under 6 months. -Unless your a favourite, higher management doesn’t care your just a number. - Communication with supervisor is a hit and miss if they get back to you. - Early travel/work times for no real benefits. - Dont get paid if you need to take leave during the peak terms as it’s apparently in the contract and have to plan your personal events around their schedule. - Never any staff to cover you if your sick & then make you feel bad because you didn’t work.

Poorly managed
School Cleaner (Former Employee) - Newcastle NSW - 20 September 2023
Management is terrible most of the time you are in the dark on what to do and where to be until there is an issue with the school then Management puts all the blame on the staff and takes no responsibility. I found this to be an extremely stressful position and the split shift is the worste.
Pros
Money
Cons
Employee support

Pull you in with promises with no guarantee of keeping it.
Production Clerk (Former Employee) - Amberley QLD - 31 July 2023
Management have no idea how to look after their employees. A lot a ex military trying to operate and manage civilians in a military mindset with unachievable expectations.

All about the $ and poor management
Manager (Former Employee) - Australia - 22 July 2023
For such a big company senior execs are clueless. Staff doing their jobs are left without any clear direction and well underpaid for what they have to put up with.
Pros
Some of the people
Cons
Poor pay, unreasonable expectations, senior execs

incompetent and indifferent management and constantly push employees
Business Development (Former Employee) - Parramatta NSW - 22 July 2023
Based on my firsthand observation, frontline employees and team leaders are required to work over time on a daily basis without any extra pay. The KPI assessments are extremely strict and even taking sick leave is met with criticism. However, the managers often take leaves and are unwilling to training new staffs. No mentorship and performance review between managers and staffs, even though HR team organise many events. Moreover, the management displays double standards by demanding employees to work from office every day, while they have hybrid work arrangement and some people even work remotely/work from home forever. They are reluctant to give salary increase to experienced and capable employees, which leads to talent attrition being ignored.
Pros
free coffee
Cons
bad leadership and no work-life balance

Good at marketing and horrible leadership
Project Coordinator (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 21 July 2023
Management might have technical skills in their area of work but no leadership skills. Instead, they throw people under the bus for their own mistakes or inability to understand what is going on. Sometimes team leaders are publicly shamed in front of staff. There is no adequate training and employees are promised advancement as soon as they start with it never eventuating due to cost-cutting exercises.
Pros
Salary
Cons
Toxic "leadership"

Toxic
Asset Analyst (Former Employee) - South Australia - 8 July 2023
Great pay, some really nice colleagues however poor middle management. Company disorganised, toxic environment. Management put the blame on the staff for their own inability to understand the business requirements

Jobs at Ventia
Unachievable expectations
Cleaner (Former Employee) - Hawkesbury - 28 June 2023
I was given 2 hours and 51 minutes a day to clean. By vacuuming, wiping all surfaces and mopping hard floors of 6 classrooms, a library, a large office block, a large toilet block, clean all outdoor tables and chairs, blow the school concrete areas and empty all bins. Fully stock soap, paper towel and toilet paper, then lock and alarm the whole school. On top of that have no dust anywhere and I mean anywhere, not a single cobweb and have spotless windows and window sills. Place stock orders. Then unpack orders when they arrive, in tiny storage areas. In 2 years I had 5 different managers. Nearly every fortnight I would have to chase my pay, twice waiting up to 3 months to receive it. And if you achieve everything, you won't get thanked, they will want you to work multiple shifts at multiple locations, as they are always under staffed.
Pros
Some really nice co-workers
Cons
time pressure

Worst job ever
Cleaner (Current Employee) - Lake Macquarie NSW - 21 June 2023
I’ve only been with Ventia for a term now but already looking for another job, it’s the worst management, they do not care one bit about there employees what so ever they will treat you Like absolute trash, I had no training what so ever and chucked into a school and told you will figure it out but when the job wasn’t done properly because I hasn’t done the skirting boards and a few other little things they came and went off about it Please do not work for this company for the sake of your mental wellbeing as they will push you to have a break down You will be over worked and under paid
Pros
None
Cons
Over worked under paid, treated like garbage Just to name a few

Stressful and Overworked
Cleaner (Former Employee) - New South Wales - 9 June 2023
This job was physically and mentally exhausting, always felt my body and back was aching due to unrealistic deadlines with cleaning tasks. On top of that it was also very stressful trying to finish these tasks on time. You're suppose to have a 10 minutes tea break but you literally don't have a second to catch your breath otherwise you won't finish your tasks on time. Compared to the amount of work you put in, the pay and job satisfaction is underwhelming. Ultimately, the company is very unorganised and you're treated like a number.
Cons
Overworked, underpaid, stressful, unrealistic timeframes, physically and mentally draining

Overall a decent experience.
Utility Attendant (Current Employee) - Middlemount QLD - 3 June 2023
Overall I had a decent experience with Ventia. Alot of ups and downs. My biggest concern is the lack of support by management. However the HR department has done an amazing job to rectify this with improvements showing. The cree I work on is also amazing. The food is okay but it's free so no complaints.
Pros
Paid accommodation and food, amazing team, great HR team
Cons
Poor management

Incompetent
Cleaner (Former Employee) - Maitland NSW - 1 June 2023
The worst most unprofessional company I have EVER dealt with. Your always underpaid, trying to sort it with Manager’s, management & Payroll is a circus and a complete stress. Always under staffed and never allow you to use your entitlements. No holidays, No RDO because "we have no staff" next to no communication if at all. Formal communication always ignored and never responded to.

great team to work with
Cleaner (Current Employee) - Keswick SA - 28 April 2023
The team at Keswick are a great team to work with. The team are inclusive no matter what your skill level. The team leader is very easy to work with and is willing to jump on the tools when needed.

Don't put yourself through it trust me
Scheduler (Former Employee) - Edithburgh SA - 9 April 2023
Looks good from afar but far from good. Unfortunately middle management is power hungry and has favourite employees who they protect at all costs. Which means quiet spoken employees or employees that actually have the correct skills and/or qualifications are bullied out of there jobs in favour of unqualified wives/friends of managements favourite employees. I found my Intelligence was tested way too many times here especially when speaking to my boss or when a phantom employee was defecating on the floor and we would have to all have a meeting about bathroom etiquette. The best part about this job was leaving.
Pros
Leaving early on fridays
Cons
Management

I wish I could say it’s all sunshine and rainbows.
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 6 April 2023
I run crews on nigh-shift and when I’m not running crews I’m there to assist as an offsider. I Started working for Ventia this year in January. 17+ years I been in the workforce and never have I worked for a company that lacks so much structure, understanding and professionalism. Yes I’ve wanted to quit multiple times already. Yes I’ve lost sleep due to the stress of work. Yes I feel like I have mental health issues due to work. Yes at times I’m not sure if it’s even a workplace because far Too often I’m mistaken as I feels more like a High-school. Too many grown up kids I swear it’s degrading. the backstabbing here is a normal thing. Getting thrown under the bus for trying to help out is a normal thing. This is the Ventia culture. Get used to it. If you do find yourself working here. Stay true to you’re own values. Treat everyone with respect. Do you’re job to the best of you’re ability, Show some initiative. Stay switched on. Look out for yourself when your on the roads, these traffic controllers are useless, they are paid to protect you but instead they sleep in their Utes, come to work half asleep just Don’t trust them! Stay out of the politics and show abit of interest in wanting to level up. Speak to the right people for what you want and need and I believe You will be fine.
Pros
Meet good people
Cons
Stress

Cons
Long hours, more staff training to progress up

Not a pleasant experience
Catering (Current Employee) - Victoria - 26 March 2023
One of the worst things is ventias management and the decisions they make without any consultation or for their staff to have the ability to have some input and suggestions. Management dont have the slightest idea what's really happening or what's beneficial for the client and their frontline people. The amount of money they spend and ressources they waste in order to introduce stupid systems and questionable way of doing things is crazy and all this to realise a short moment later - oh this is not going to work, we didn't see that coming. And of course at the end it's the front line people on wich an extra load of work gets dumped on to fix their wrong doing.
Pros
Some good people to work with.
Cons
I really feel for the people that still have to work at this place

Very poor management
Cleaner (Former Employee) - Blue Mountains NSW - 25 March 2023
The work load is not hard at all but if there are discrepancies with pay it is extremely hard to have it rectified as there is not much, if any help from the supervisor who is at most time impossible to reach. Supervisor role is a revolving door and people Are not trained for the position.
Pros
Easy work
Cons
Poor management
