Not appreciated for all the hard work you put in, emails ignored, only a number in the industry and residents sick and tired of getting stuffed around .. no caregiver .. no help .. yet they are not notified of any changes. I left and found work elsewhere.. thank goodness

Great team where you have opportunities to make a difference to people's lives.
Marketing (Current Employee) - East Melbourne VIC - 24 August 2020
The culture is fun and fast paced. The work is meaningful by supporting people with disabilities and older people live the life they choose. The leadership of the CEO - especially through COVID has been excellent.

I have worked for VMCH for many years and found the organisation good to work for with many roles available and good advancement.

Friendly workplace, old building,
Personal Care Worker (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 25 January 2018
I have worked for the facility for 6 years now. Since VMCH have taken over not much as changed. We still have the same amount of carers on the floor with an increasing number of resident's with high care needs, as we are aging in place and no longer send resident's requiring more care to another facility. The building itself is quite dated, not equipped with facilities big enough for residents requiring machines to transfer them, bathrooms are small, there is not much room for storage of machines. We used to have a dementia specific area with secured doors for safety, those doors are taken down and everyone is mixed together creating many more behaviours with people with dementia being in a loud environment and often they are able to abscond from the facility with visitors putting them in increasing danger of becoming lost and harmed. A new facility was proposed to be built 3years ago, nothing has eventuated and we are left with a facility that was never built for any of this.

Be cautious
Disability Support Worker (Former Employee) - Kew VIC - 23 December 2017
The HR department bully and intimidate employees and give out incorrect information to employees regarding their entitlements. They put employees at risk by not providing adequate support and information to keep them safe in the workplace. Incompetent management who do not know relevent laws and acts applicable to the industry.
Pros
salary sacrificing, nice ground staff, beautiful clientele
Cons
management are incompetent
