Working for 5 years good culture and management, limited ways to develop career without degree
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 22 September 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWestpac certainly has been a great place to work however depends heavily on your manager and leaders. The culture wants you to improve and is supportive. Pay is okay. Limited ways to at career development if you do not have a degree or want to get into management/sales

Micromanaging
Team Member (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 18 September 2023
Very poor environment, if you leave your desk for 5 min the whole system shuts down and team leaders start chasing you up. The micromanaging is crazy. idk why its like this

Good place to work
Analyst (Former Employee) - Australia - 7 September 2023
It totally depends on your team and the manager. Most of the work is slow-paced, if you are lucky enough you will have a supportive manager who can guide you.

Bullying culture- especially at Parramatta
Relationship Manager (Former Employee) - Parramatta NSW - 15 August 2023
The culture is appualing. I went to HR, the manager and nothing happened. Their attrition is high but the individuals who cause people to leave are still there. I would not recommend anyone to work with the team that are in commercial banking in Parramatta. Mental health is more important and certain individuals who caused are still there. The regional manager did nothing! I left for my own good.
Cons
Bullying.. long hours..no support..

Great culture
Project Coordinator (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 11 August 2023
Great culture at westpac, very friendly people with good management. People take the time to teach you complex concepts and are very helpful. Pay is a lot better than I thought. Would highly recommend

Supportive team with tight deadline
Manager (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 9 August 2023
Too many restructures hence people are laid off and are not able to add value to the business. Higher-pay folks are at risk of being made redundant. My team members are supportive and the team leader is the driving force hence my role is secured. A lot of projects underway and limited resources.

Business analyst
PO (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 8 August 2023
Good company to work for, good perks, work life balance & lots to learn. But recent changes in leadership has made lot of people redundant. Hopefully things improve, otherwise a good company to work for

Good salary and offices
Executive Assistant (Former Employee) - sydney, australia - 31 July 2023
It was a life-balanced, well-paid job without too much stress in nice offices. Hardest part was learning tasks I hadn't done before. Company was very aware of its employee responsibilities where it counted.

It’s alright
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 31 July 2023
Alright progression, it’s a little bit too stressful for the small salary you get. Short-term very good for knowledge and career, long-term not ideal. Everybody seems exhausted.

Jobs at Westpac Group
Decent job . Bad upper management company direction
Personal Banker (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 3 July 2023
The job itself is enjoyable when your in a good branch and have capable upper management. When you have a management structure who only care about achieving home loan targets. The other 70% of what bankers do is taken for granted.

Great Colleagues but Hard Target
Risk Analyst (Former Employee) - Australia - 21 June 2023
The work target is not easy to achieve. The management talk about numbers all the time. They make you feel like quantity is even more important than quality.

High workload and goalposts always changing
Specialist (Former Employee) - Melbourne City VIC - 10 June 2023
Depending on Dept you can be paid well. Workload is high and everyone is stressed. You need to know the EA and ask for your benefits. It’s really dependant on your manager and your team. Lots of people working different salaries for the same job.

No organisation wide standard work culture, it all depends on your team and manager
Senior Business Analyst (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 14 May 2023
This is one organisation i saw in my 20 years of career which has no organisation wide process or soul. Everything is customisable, so you may have a dream-come-true or a nightmare experience, depending on your manager or your team. Salary wise, its average to market, but big brand and centralised office location works.

Good culture
Consumer Connect Fulfilment Banker (Former Employee) - Melbourne - 14 April 2023
Good culture. Supportive staff. A lot of growth opportunities. Employees are rewarded bonuses for going above and beyond. There could be a lot of pressure to meet your targets.

Great to start but not to stay
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 2 April 2023
Great to learn but not best to develop a career over the longer term, a lot of instability with repeated restructures. Bottleneck of Manager level positions, without meaningful career progression that makes it hard to progress to Head of

Very competitive.
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 27 March 2023
Typical hierarchical major financial organisation. It's not "what" you know, but "who" you know. They listen... if you tell them what they want to hear.

Supportive
CSR (Current Employee) - Parramatta NSW - 31 January 2023
Pretty supportive company to work for They take into account work life balance. Training could have been better as you need to push management for 1 on 1 feedback

Great complany for development
Relationship Manager SME (Former Employee) - Southport QLD - 20 October 2022
I wish I could have started earlier in my career than 40 as there would have many more opportunities to grow and develop. I was given so many opportunities to grow and develop in my time with Westpac and they allowed me to do so much more in my career than I could ever thought I would have been able to do.
