Good to gain experience but still using old system, less productive
Data Analyst (Former Employee) - South Guildford WA - 29 July 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood in gaining experience around machines for mining. But WesTrac is still using the old system which makes it less productive. There is initiative to change but slow pace.

Frustrating, very stressful if you are not in the purple circle
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Tomago NSW - 24 May 2023
Was once a work place where experience and knowledge was appreciated and respected. It is now full of people with no understanding of the importance of customer relationships. It is now completely transactional. Very click work place full of silos and massive ego’s
Pros
Caterpillar product, great floor level people
Cons
Management is lost

Warehouse operator/picker
Warehouse Operator (Current Employee) - Tomago NSW - 19 May 2022
Working in the warehouse as a picker. You are constantly walking or standing for 5+ hours. No opportunity to rest or sit. Not a lot of communication from management, Repetitive work. Not a lot of opportunity to work in other areas of the warehouse.
Pros
Great cafeteria with competitive prices
Cons
No advancement opportunity to learn other areas, maybe in the long term. Definitely not in the short term

Forklift Operator (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 26 March 2022
Absolutely hated working at westrac south Guildford, the supervisors are clowns who aren't fit for the job, managers lol what are they? Poor management, would never recommend working at that site ever.

Warehouse Operator (Current Employee) - Tomago NSW - 3 December 2021
Not too bad a workplace. Good fellow workers. Poor Managers. PPE and boots supplied. Plenty of banter in a good way. I wouldn't feed anyone in HR though.

Bad culture and career stagnation and you can expect performance to drop
All Rounder warehouse (Former Employee) - Regional NSW - 18 March 2021
Performance reviews often overlooked until pushed. The head wouldn't know what the tail was doing in poor management practices. Management wouldn’t confront bad team issues until too late. Hiring a mate program that gets you $ doesn’t often produce quality. Yet management puts too much blind faith in very bad supervisors. Quality wasn't a concern nor hostile work environments. My work performance dropped along with the quality of new hires that fostered a bad environment with coworkers and disrespect towards supervisors (albeit being unfit).
Pros
Travel to other branches at times/ decent pay
Cons
No overtime until 50 hours

Jobs at WesTrac
Disorganised company, poorly managed, inexperienced supervisors
Mechanic (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 9 January 2021
At this particular branch the morale is horrendous. Tradesmen think their s**t doesnt stink. The attitude from majority of the trades in the workshop is very poor and belittling. Supervisors are not capable of the roles they are in. People sneakily watch you to see if you are doing anything wrong and report you for anything minutely out of the ordinary. Personnel have been in their positions for too long that they are miserable and bring everybody else down with them. Very bad culture and traits to have in a workplace that is trying to succeed. If you are able get competencies/tickets elsewhere do it, the institute could not organise training if it slapped them in the face.
Pros
Occasional lunches site wide, get paid on time
Cons
Poor morale, poor attitudes, incompetent supervisors/managers. Very disorganised "state of the art" training facility

Worst company I have ever worked at.
Human Resources Assistant (Former Employee) - South Guildford WA - 19 June 2020
Westrac has an awful culture that starts with management and makes it way down throughout the team. Blame game, unqualified managers being promoted into positions they are incapable of managing. Borderline bullying. The morale is always low and people don’t want to come into work. The People and Culture department is the worst I have even seen. Nothing changes and nothing will change. I would never recommend Westrac to anyone
Pros
The pro was the day I left
Cons
Everything

Little to no incentives to work hard, insensitive management
Storeperson (Former Employee) - South Guildford WA - 23 April 2020
There is no incentive to do anything more than the bare minimum, other than meaningless awards and titles not worth the paper they are scribbled on.
Hopefully you do not find yourself in a situation outside of work that affects work (change of roster, days off etc) as you will be thrown under the bus without a second thought.

Work via Temp Agency
HSEQ Administrator (Temp) (Former Employee) - South Guildford WA - 18 April 2020
Very 'heavy' atmostphere in my area and adjoining area.
Negative and unhelpful female 'seniors', in particular.
Obvious bullying, back-stabbing and bad attitudes by those in charge, which appeared to rub-off on a few others who seemingly just wanted to 'prove their worth' and keep their jobs.
Few had interest in assisting others willingly and/or with a smile on their faces ...

Management is very ignorant of staff on the floor
Very slow to respond to personal issues

The specific branch i worked for managment became an issue
Mobile plant mechanic (Former Employee) - Kalgoorlie WA - 23 January 2020
Was a great place to work 1 time ago however the kalgoorlie branch changed once a new manager was appointed.
Things may have changed by now but will need to take a chance.

Dont do it
Warehouse Operator (Former Employee) - Tomago NSW - 2 December 2019
No training/instructions from management. Culture is to give family members/friends jobs with no prior experience over staff that's been there for years. Pay is the worst in Newcastle and is impossible to reach a decent wage due to the steps you have to go through due to a "matrix" created 20 years ago. Hours of work is deplorable for award(nice way of saying minimum) wage and you tend to work 14 hours per day with travel so forget having a family life!!

If you not in the purple circle ⭕️ then your life is miserable, lots of bullying and discrimination that’s really toxic .No development for every one its only for the people in the purple circle only, and they like cheap labor from blue tongue so they pay less.supervisors have no public relations or knowledge.
