Inclusive environment with so much to learn and recreational space
Internship (Former Employee) - Port Moresby - 24 February 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorking 12 hours a day was a challenge, but a good lesson on time management and adaptation. Status quo is important, with cultural diversity in work and recreational activities. The management team is sufficient in leading multicultural personnel. Safety is very important and highlighted every single day.
Pros
Good food and service, jokes all around, recreational activities
Cons
long hours, less pay (intern)

Mechanical Engineer Role
Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 20 March 2023
Excellent work-life balance and working culture but the work can be very slow. Working in the Projects department can sometimes get too repetitive and boring, but once the project moves onto the next phase i.e. detailed design, it gets very interesting and more technical.
Pros
Excellent work-life balance and working culture
Cons
The work can be very slow.

Salary is good but except that only so much
Engineering Consultant (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 14 September 2021
Poor job security. They care enough for your career development and well-being. Just hire when they need and sack when they don't. They pay attractive salary when demanding is high but better to move before the demanding disappear.

Terrible company,stay away
Engineering Intern (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 3 May 2021
Don't care about workers, morale doesn't exist. It's a dead end, no rewards for hard work. No career path, no training to advance skills. Management don't listen, just a bunch of dictatorial yes people.
Pros
Management disconnected
Cons
Having to listen to them, tell you how good they are and they are a people company.

Toxic Management
Project Engineer (Current Employee) - Brooklyn VIC - 9 April 2021
Company is full of toxic middle management all the way to the top. Undermining, back stabbing and bullying is pretty much a common occurrence from middle management and higher and has a strong theme thru the engineering team also. Blame culture.
Pros
Flexible work/life balance
Cons
All forms of management

Poor management, sends all work to overseas instead.
Engineer (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 18 February 2021
Don't bother working here. Higher management doesn't even look for work outside of the current contracts(which are going nowhere). Sends all work to their "low cost" centres, therefore no workers required in Melbourne office.

Billable time focused
Manager (Former Employee) - Melbourne City Centre VIC - 13 April 2020
You’re only valuable whilst you can be billed out 100% of the time . Very quick to lay people off when things turn quiet. Tend to work in silos and people don’t share information in order to protect their jobs.

Slightly Disorganize environment. Questionable leadership in this company. Seems that the company is going thru quite some uncertainty in retaining good employee.

Worse company I ever worked.
Maintenance Planner (Former Employee) - Carrum Downs VIC - 4 December 2019
The high hierarchy management just looks after them selves. Bullying is a normal procedure. Complete desorganised. Supervisors live to look after politics.
The business is 800% politics.
If you want forget technical skills to become a bootlick get employed there.

Your Safety Is There Priority
Trade Assistant/Confined Space Person (Former Employee) - Queensland - 24 November 2019
It was refreshing to work for a company that meant what they taught when it comes to safety. In the high intensity/high danger work environment it was awesome to know that safety was their culture, not just a slogan. Great bunch of people to with.

Too early to say
Deck Crew/Rigger (Current Employee) - Haewene Brim - 6 November 2019
Only providing holiday cover so cannot comment truthfully on the company on the whole. The girls in the office were a pleasure to deal with, not so the agency or umbrella company

Overall Wood is great place to work
Project Director (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 31 October 2019
The culture in Wood is great and allows one to grow as required. There is no policing of resources but rather a trust that keeps individuals proactively delivering better than expected.

Toxic Totalitarian Management
Project Engineer (Former Employee) - Brooklyn VIC - 22 September 2019
One would think in the year 2019 that a Totalitarian style of management wouldn't be around, but in the Brooklyn offices of Wood. it's alive and well. The Management there enjoy long coffee and lunch breaks while the workers aren't allow to leave their seat for more than a few minutes before they are questioned or even put of disciplinary action. Management restrict who you can and can't talk to in the office. This Toxic workplace should be avoid.

Rubbish place full of smelly curries and Filos
Administrator (Former Employee) - Collins Street VIC - 19 August 2019
This place was a terrible place to work. Full of 3rd work competitive Curries and Filos who put you down and make life hard. They also stink. Salary was a joke with no carer progression. Do not work here people or you will regret it. Management also are a complete joke and pocket all the revenue in bonuses with no pay increases given to staff in 5 years.

the recruitment head in Brisbane needs to resign
fitter (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 23 July 2019
The senior strategic resourcing advisor in Brisbane is arrogant and incompatant in their job role. I have never come across a company that has a recruitment process that is run so shamefully wrong by one individual.

Toxic Culture let down by HR & Management
Project Engineer (Current Employee) - Brooklyn VIC - 25 June 2019
Wood. has done nothing about the workplace Bullying in the Brooklyn Office. People are going home in tears all because of one toxic person. If you complain about about this person it just makes your day to day life worse. HR & Management are fully supporting the toxic behavior and raise disciplinary action against anyone who speaks up.
Pros
Going home without a knife in your back
Cons
Getting knifed by DQ

Unorganized Management
Well Integrity Manager, Asia Pacific (Former Employee) - Brisbane, Australia & Chester, UK - 7 June 2019
A typical day of work was reporting to 4 managers whom did not communicate with each other and attempt to understand what each manager wanted in contradiction with the other managers.
I learned Well Integrity Software.
To this day I still do not know who my manager was out of the 4 with contradicting corporate agendas.
Workplace culture was horrendous with the threat of being fired any day and assigned at least 2 fulltime job duties.
Lack of corporate accountability and communication with defined objectives.
Meeting new people and traveling the globe, as well as, completing work that was highly regarded by the clients.
Pros
Subject Work
Cons
Managements Lack of Communication between themselves and myself
