Can be great at times

Indeed Featured review

Job is good in the sense that it keeps you busy, and most staff members work hard. However, the store suffers from a massive issue or understaffing and the deli cops it hard as a result. Nothing has been done to rectify it within the last year unfortunately.

Productive and good place to learn

Nice place to start a career after a long break . Team member and my Manager is very supportive at all the time . Hardest part when you have a face a rude customer.

fun workplace has its challenges

average pay and not too difficult but can be tough to deal with the stresses. It provides you with plenty of different skills which can be applied in different places

Exploitative from top down

Everyone is miserable. Not paid enough to deal with customers. Upper management are horrible to management who pass it on to employees. Lack of basic resources creates unnecessary rivalries between departments.

Pros

Staff discount

Cons

Poor management

Ok workplace

Staff were all friendly and good training. They really push blackout periods I.e- no taking leave over busy periods. If I had known this I wouldn’t have taken the position.

Good part time low effort

Job is not too difficult and is relatively flexible. Stocking shelves all day may get tiring but you are never really pushed. Management have their days but most of the time they're ok.

Supportive coworkers and nice working place

The team lead really makes a huge difference for the team environment. Overall a very nice and comfortable place to work. The staff room is always well-decorated and lovely.

Good first job.

Not much to say, worked fine for me in high school. Management was eh but location and culture were nice. Pay and hours were fine for what the job was.

Good people but bad pay

Good people but repetitive. Good for experience especially anyone looking for their 1st job. Not good pay though, for anyone under 18. The management was also very good and always very friendly.

Worst Company to work for

The overall atmosphere of this company is awful. the managers and team leaders do not care about you or your interests. I was refused to be trained at a self-serve station after working there for a year even though new staff were trained instantly. The customers always have something to say and expect respect as soon as you scan the first item, you only got a 15-minute break, unless you worked 8-hour shifts then it would be 30 minutes. Being in Noosa, this store is very busy 24/7 and it was honestly the worst job I've ever had.

Not the greatest but what job is

Woolworths is decent don’t get me wrong but it isn’t great. If you’re under 18 I would not recommend you working at Woolworths unless you’re there for spare change which sure that’s good, money is money but it isn’t worth the extra labour and roles you’ll take on. The pay is not worth it unless you’re a casual and over 18, even then it isn’t worth it unless you have another job. Once you hit 18+ and are a casual don’t be shocked when you notice your shifts getting reduced, they’re incredibly cheap. If you’re part time you’re ensured shifts but if you’re casual good luck. Woolworths is good to have for experience on your resume as a beginner in the workforce but that’s about it. Or if you’re needing to get back to work and need some extra cash that’s all about what it’s good for. A lot of the time you’ll be needing to teach yourself how to do things or if they do teach you it’ll be a half job and then you’re supposed to know how to do it all. I guess that’s the way of many workplaces but it’s something that definitely needs to be changed. Specifically within this store what I don’t like is when you say no to ANYTHING they automatically will not like you, treat you differently or give you a smug look. However I will say once you start getting along with people in your team it is easy to develop a sort of relationship with them, that is one thing I’ll say that I like about this store to an extent.I’d rather not say what exact store this is, but it is around the Parramatta/Greater Western Sydney area if that helps with your decision of whether or not you’d like to work with Woolworths.

Great entry level start

Fun working with a teamLearn a lot about customer service in a fast-paced environmentHours not always ideal, lots of weekends and nights but that's to be expected

Okay

It was okay - the best part of working there was your co-workers.Management always cut hours meaning the workload was high with too few staff. Be prepared for customers to ask if the bread they watched a baker just take out of the oven, is baked fresh today.

Bad

Not good to work for. Pay is not great. Managers are rude and abusive. No career opportunities. Facilities are not nice. I don’t know what else I can say

Boring

it was often very busy, which meant it was very tiring and repetitive work. boring place to work at- can't really talk to coworkers when working at front end

tiring experience

i was at a store where it was constantly very understaffed, ive had to do 2-3 peoples jobs at the same time, i felt like i was getting underpaid. So it was very easy to get burnt out as the pay was not very rewarding. a lot of my coworkers liked slacking off, and it was a pain to always pick up their slack, managment dont say anything about it.
