Hectic but fun
Online Personal Shopper (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 28 August 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood, I have had the pleasure of working at Woolworths for the past year, and it has been an incredibly positive experience. The work environment is friendly, inclusive, and team-oriented. The management team is supportive and encourages professional growth. The training process was thorough and ensured that I was well-equipped to handle my responsibilities. The company's emphasis on customer service and attention to detail truly sets it apart. The team members collaborate effectively, making it a great place to learn from each other.

Good for first job
Pick Packer (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 23 October 2023
it’s ok, management is not the best but flexible with what days you work. Pay is average but overall it’s a decent place to work for starters. Pick Packing is very fast paced

Jobs at Woolworths Supermarket
in Perth WACompany is only concerned with growth and profit
Shop Assistant (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 22 October 2023
Management can make or break your job, unfortunately I was in a store where management broke it. Company's concern is not customers or team members- wages and profits are the important aspects of the company. Team members can be amazing, met some great people at Woolworths. Range of hours is great if you cannot work standard hours

great if the team is cohesive
Night Fill (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 2 October 2023
great job when everyone works together to get it done and be out on time. Good team leaders make the job easier, not much communication from upper management.

Areas for improvement

- Ability to meet personal goals
- Energising work tasks
Good workplace if you can put up with management and occasional rude customers
Deli Assistant (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 26 July 2023
Pros - good hours and pay, the co-workers really make or break a shift, 5% staff discount Cons - can get quite overworked if your department is understaffed, resulting in annoyed customers (most are understanding though), management was an ordeal, especially if you want to go to a different department

Amazing people working for a horrible corporate structure
Team Member (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 15 July 2023
Woolworths is an awesome first job and even has great scope for a career. I would say that 70% of all employees are awesome and can easily make life long friends. However, management is horrendous. I mean it is like working for a feudal lord. The human store managers get destroyed personally and emotionally by their district managers. So you usually end up with jerks just surviving as your boss. The line managers are generally great. Really friendly and understanding. They are rocking like 60 hour weeks though and getting paid for 40 hours. It is a microcosm of how to destroy peoples mental health.
Pros
Awesome work culture at the low level. Easy to get additional responsibilies and learn basic skills
Cons
Horrible corporate management, a system designed to exploit and illegally destory peoples health and wellbeing

Underappreciated
Bakery Assistant (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 13 July 2023
Little hope of career progression unless you're besties with the management. Do more than your fair share of the work and receive zero thanks or recognition. Toxic culture with many staff employed at the same store for far too long. Most managers preferring to sit in back offices having a chat than be on the shop floor coaching and leading their team by example. Good job in order to learn life skills and practice customer service. Wouldn't recommend as a career.

Good job, bad management
All rounder (Former Employee) - Carramar, Perth - 7 February 2023
Woolworths gave me many opportunities to try various roles after two years of service. Management began to underpay me once I took on responsibility and I therefore quit.
Pros
good friends
Cons
bad management

Flexible and decent pay, but bad management.
Online Personal Shopper (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 26 January 2023
Their motto “We bring a little care to everyone each day” is laughable. I have been at two stores now and both have had management treat me unfairly due to the relationship with other employees either internally or externally to the business. Most of these team members or management I speak about have been with the business for years, good on them, but I feel they have a lot to learn. These are individuals who probably were treated the same way at some point. It is not worth stressing over, plenty more jobs out there, and today most of us are capable of being our own boss.

Friendly team
Assistant Department Manager (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 23 December 2022
Most fellow employees are fantastic, friendly and willing to guide you. Management were okay although struggled at times with pressure from upper management. Training definitely needed improvement but for the most part an excellent sometimes chaotic workplace where everyone attempts to pull together.

Management don't give a hoot about employees
Team Member (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 20 December 2022
They will use you up and spit you out. They will not do the right thing by you in any situation. If you want to be appreciated for your efforts do not work here. They simply do not care about their employees.
Pros
Hours are flexible
Cons
De-humanising

Good pay, consistent shifts, mind-numbing work
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 28 October 2022
Pros: good pay, consistent shifts, works well with studies. Cons: boring and repetitive tasks, constantly on your feet, most staff are casual (no paid leave), rude customers, early starts during Christmas hours. Your experience will really depend on the team and managers. Got a new team manager that helped cement my departure: lazy, always off on smoke breaks, continuously scheduled me on the days I put off, wouldn't let me take a day off when I was sick as they were understaffed (I apparently didn't sound "sick enough" on the phone).

Very poor company
Online Personal Shopper (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 28 June 2022
I had many bad experiences at my store, the worst of which being preyed upon by two adult men and having nothing at all done about it when it was brought to multiple levels of management. You are expected to work like a robot and never take a sick day lest your shifts be reduced for weeks as punishment.

great for developing good customer service with people from different backgrounds.
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 10 May 2022
A very friendly place to work. I was happy to have the opportunity to be part of the team. Learning a new skill, meeting more experienced coworkers was also a valuable experience.
