Fun busy workplace
Checkout operator (Former Employee) - Blacktown - 1 November 2023
Fun place to work meeting lots of different and interesting people. Busy but makes the shifts go faster always something to learn. Must like people as interacting with customers is important.

Horrible
Checkout Operator (Former Employee) - Camperdown VIC - 30 October 2023
hated working there, if you want to work at woolies don’t go on checkouts. stressful, boring, and always dreaded it before going into work. if i had a choice now i would’ve asked to swap areas before quitting

great start
Checkout Assistant (Former Employee) - Tasmania - 25 October 2023
Excellent rewarding job with awesome customers and co workers. Amazing to work for a small business that truely values you as an employee and doesn't treat you as a number.

Great introduction to the workforce as a young adult. Woolworths provides professional training (paid for) and teaches you important skills for future jobs.

Easy Going
Checkout Operator (Former Employee) - Portarlington VIC - 11 September 2023
I worked at Woolworths for around 3 years as a checkout operator. The staff and customers were lovely, and once you get the hang of the job, it’s really easy and laid back. Personally my only issue was getting rostered outside of my rostered hours.

Decent but toxic co-workers
Cashier (Former Employee) - Morayfield QLD - 18 May 2023
The job itself wasn't particularly difficult and the pay could have been better (not suprising) but it was the toxic, childish co-workers that really made it unbearable to be honest. And I'm not talking about the actual teenagers.

Easy work, horrible boss
Cashier (Former Employee) - Northern Beaches NSW - 1 May 2023
Horrible boss who did not care about her employees - I had put in 2 weeks of "not available" (I was a casual) and she still rostered me on and expected me to be there. Work itself was easy.

Productive and busy
Service Cashier (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 19 March 2023
Quick to learn. Good training. Hours ok. Can vary greatly either early starts or late Finnish if casual. Can be a fun environment within the team. Enjoyed serving a vast array of customers.

Okay
Cashier (Former Employee) - Nhulunbuy NT - 21 February 2023
The pay wasn't the best being 15 years old but provided an entry-level job in the retail industry. It is what you make it, some of the people I worked with were awesome. I recommend any other position than front-end.

Good first job
Checkout Operator (Former Employee) - Townsville QLD - 26 January 2023
It is a good job for your first job, very flexible with shifts. They offer a lot of shifts to you, so it’s easy to get enough hours to pay for your bills.
Pros
Flexibility
Cons
Pay

Very boring
Casual cashier (Former Employee) - Sunshine Coast QLD - 23 January 2023
Some people might to be able to cope with a job at Woolworths in terms of being mentally-engaging, or lack there-off. However for me It's pretty painful. Management positions are probably a little more interesting but still not fulfilling. the work is very easy and not very physical, though people with back problems should be wary of doing long shifts, and make sure you try to change positions when you can. casual is very flexible, great for students!
Pros
occasional free snacks/fruit in lunchroom, occasional good chats with customers
Cons
Boring and unfulfilling, self-entitled and lazy customers

Recommend for young people
Cashier (Former Employee) - Katoomba NSW - 7 January 2023
Pretty average experience working here but fresh out of high school and looking for money it was perfect for a while. Not the job you want to stay in for the long run
