Easy Going

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I worked at Woolworths for around 3 years as a checkout operator. The staff and customers were lovely, and once you get the hang of the job, it’s really easy and laid back. Personally my only issue was getting rostered outside of my rostered hours.

Bad

Bad workplace conditions and culture- poorly paid and understaffed. I would not recommend Woolworths to work at all. Management would often bully staff which I witnessed

Amazing

Lovers working there, great sense of community! Staff is great and hours are not too long. Pay is average but still good.

Decent but toxic co-workers

The job itself wasn't particularly difficult and the pay could have been better (not suprising) but it was the toxic, childish co-workers that really made it unbearable to be honest. And I'm not talking about the actual teenagers.

Easy work, horrible boss

Horrible boss who did not care about her employees - I had put in 2 weeks of "not available" (I was a casual) and she still rostered me on and expected me to be there. Work itself was easy.

Productive and busy

Quick to learn. Good training. Hours ok. Can vary greatly either early starts or late Finnish if casual. Can be a fun environment within the team. Enjoyed serving a vast array of customers.

Okay

The pay wasn't the best being 15 years old but provided an entry-level job in the retail industry. It is what you make it, some of the people I worked with were awesome. I recommend any other position than front-end.

Good first job

It is a good job for your first job, very flexible with shifts. They offer a lot of shifts to you, so it’s easy to get enough hours to pay for your bills.

Pros

Flexibility

Cons

Pay

Very boring

Some people might to be able to cope with a job at Woolworths in terms of being mentally-engaging, or lack there-off. However for me It's pretty painful. Management positions are probably a little more interesting but still not fulfilling. the work is very easy and not very physical, though people with back problems should be wary of doing long shifts, and make sure you try to change positions when you can.casual is very flexible, great for students!

Pros

occasional free snacks/fruit in lunchroom, occasional good chats with customers

Cons

Boring and unfulfilling, self-entitled and lazy customers

Recommend for young people

Pretty average experience working here but fresh out of high school and looking for money it was perfect for a while. Not the job you want to stay in for the long run

It's a happy place to work

It's a great place to work. Most of the staff are very friendly, there a just a few that can make it very stressful. They make you feel like a team member, part of the family and friendship.

Pros

Friendly atmosphere and sometimes feel treats.

Cons

Some people aren't team friendly

Great place to work for first job

A great introduction in to the work force. Management were very flexible with work hours and fitting in with study. A great culture at the store I worked at.

Its a job

Management was nice until I asked for a raise after a year of being at minimum wage, the role as a cashier is exactly what you would expect. The hardest part of the job is the repetitiveness

It’s great if you were already going shopping

I like knocking off and already being at the supermarket. No security in Darwin on weekends … dangerous and makes me anxious, good friends in the deli. We make chicken noises and laugh at self serve weighing issues. Wouldn’t recommend

Nice enough workplace

Typical supermarket job, hardest part was the customers although sometimes you would get really nice ones and it would make the day better. Need to hit the wordcount.
