Fast paced environment

Indeed Featured review

Great place for focus on career development if you want it. Fast paced environment. Workplace culture needs improvement as unrealistic expectations and toxic management can occur but can also be treated.

Decent casual job, terrible long term

As a first causal job its fine, but after 2 years ot starts getting draining, pay isn’t great and no matter how much work you put in theres no opportunity to move up.

Fun workplace

A decent workplace for students or young people to grow a strong work ethic whilst also being exposed to the ins and outs of the day to day operations of a retailer.

It's ok

It's OK but if you want to work night and weekends the rest of your life then this is the place to be. Nice people to work withYou can move from department to department for a change

Okay.

Things got stressful during busy hours. The challenges include handling rude customers from time to time. Although the colleagues were very nice to work with.

Okay.

Working at woolworths is just okay. Most managers do not care about your wellbeing or how you are doing, and everything has to do with the bottom dollar. It would be nice if the company cared more about their employees than just the money!

Exploitative from top down

Everyone is miserable. Not paid enough to deal with customers. Upper management are horrible to management who pass it on to employees. Lack of basic resources creates unnecessary rivalries between departments.

Pros

Staff discount

Cons

Poor management

Productive and fun work place

It is a very good experience for me to work with woolworths supermarket. I have learned so many new skills here which helped me to improve my own skills as well.

Mixed Experience

Good team members but management were cliquey and not responsible to changing availability needs. Schedules often weren't published very far in advance so it was hard to plan ahead.

A people based work environment.

Working for Woolworths is all about the demographic, fitting in with the people around you and making sure you are honest wether or not this is for you.

Pros

Flexible, great social environment

Cons

Heavy work load, customer complaints, poor management (not all managers)

It's a good place to work in that it's very flexible, especially if you have kids.

The only good thing about working here is that its flexible and you can choose the hours you can work. Other than that it is not good. Higher management does not care about the staff on a store level. Always cutting hours so workers are constantly run off their feet. It's not uncommon for some of us to be doing 9 hours with literally no breaks (working in online click and collect), and that's just as a team member so not getting paid any extra to deal with that stress. This company is not worth the mental stress

Pros

Flexible

Cons

Long hours with no breaks

Front end is so repetitive, it’s painful on the body. Management don’t care let alone acknowledge you unless you are a department manager.

This can be a secure long term job. If you have a personality you will generally not advance much in the company, strangely enough the non communicator seems to advance. You will get hardly any permanent hours. Managers can just hire people and put them on full time without asking long term employees about the positions available because it’s easier for them not to change the rosters, basically they just slot people in someone else’s position when they leave. Just remember you are just a number, there is no loyalty and bullying can be a horrible culture where nothing is done. Repetitive work without rotation.

Pros

Permanent work

Cons

Repetition, painful on your body from being in one position. It’s poor pay. Manager is unpredictable.

Mentally Draining

This company has no regard for its workers despite the things they say. A new rostering system has started in the shops which is causing many, many problems which has led to mass demoralization across the country. I have no experienced anything like this in the 7 years I have worked here. This has caused resignations. They are wanting new people in to replace those who have left because they are unaware of the RT3 system. This is why you're seeing many job openings. An extremely toxic environment created by upper management which directly affects everyone below.Understaffed & extremely underpaid, people don't take their ENTITLED breaks so they can get the work done an appease upper management.Avoid if you can.

Pros

N/a

Cons

Everything in my review.

Good first job but hours got intense

Good first job, but like most early retail will depend on individual store and management. Depending on the timing of the shift, can either be very busy or super quiet, but not often a steady flow of customers. Expect lots of shifts and extensions, wasn't uncommon to get a 5 hour extended to an 8 hour. Management were amazing though, but be prepared for lots of hours.

Easy entry level job

Woolworths was an easy entry level job with good management and lack of stressful moments. Only con with working at this company was the short hours, ranging with having countless 3 hours shifts.
