Woolworths can be a great place to work depending on the team commitments and the management

I’ve learned a lot working for Woolworths, there’s ability to grow and excel, as long as you have a good team and management. It’s a gray place to work

Pros

Snack provided, team discount

Cons

Hours due to change

Happy with the experience. Moved on and don’t regret it. Everyone gets along and are happy to help each other out. Stoked to have had the experience..

Pretty average

It’s a good job pretty boring at times . I worked there during covid and before then it was a good team and very understanding that I was still at school all the time but they never followed the legal requirements for work hours

Fun place to work

Great place to work. Happy people. The working aspect was a bit physically demanding as your lifting fruits a lot however there are expections to delivery such as mechandising and keeping the fruit and veg area clean

Easy Going

I worked at Woolworths for around 3 years as a checkout operator. The staff and customers were lovely, and once you get the hang of the job, it’s really easy and laid back. Personally my only issue was getting rostered outside of my rostered hours.

Fast paced work place

Differs based off store, management are supportive in developing careers. Can be stressful depending on your position but can generally create great friendships within teams

Fine if ur casual but don’t recommend more then that

Idk about other stores but we don’t have enough hours or staff to do what we’re being asked to do. At least most of the staff are nice. They are the only reason I keep coming to workWouldn’t recommend as a full time gig.

Pros

Staff and management are nice

Cons

Too many expectations for low pay

Alright Place to work

Woolies is a very large company and each team is very different. The Category Development Team(Category Development Analyst, Range Optimisation Analyst, Category Development Coordinator)was a rather poltical team regarding management. As middle managment operates as if they run the company as dont realise how their actions impact others. My role as the catgeory development coordinator requires PA experience(not stated in the job description). The roles and responsibilities have clearly expanded but there is no acceptance by the manager. As this role is about helping project managers as well as the category development schedule for the wider Buying Team. This means you will be managing 3 inbox + personal inbox, (Alot fo work is about chasing up approvals and managing the number of work for store regarding schedule changes), uploading documents for suppliers, communicating about buying equipment (with equipment team) for 3-4 project managers as well as being across 3-4 different project timelines, onboarding/ offboarding new staff for the team of 60 people, ordering supplies such as notebooks, name tags. The list continues such as booking rooms for the 60 people team, and organising meetings and chasing people.

Pros

free gym

Cons

Management rules with an iron fist

Very monotonous, managerial issues

Pay is fine for the work, which is usually quite chill. Grocery managers are either extremely lazy or have little store presence. Working there gets frustrating after a while.

Boring but flexible job

lots of drama between staff, easy but boring work so days drag on a bit, mostly flexible if you have another job/studies to work around. Pay is not great but can get a bit more on weekends

Stressful but can be rewarding long term

I found it quite stressful personally but it may get better with time and maybe at different locationslacking good communication and support when first starting.

fun but tiring and sometimes repetitive

Did work experience here through school a while ago, lots of things to do but was also left with the jobs no one likes doing, expected for work experience. Got two 15 minute breaks with 8-9 work hours.

Pros

nice people

Team Member

Very fast paced environment for those able to work fast for 5-6 hours a day standing up. Pay is very unfavourable for young men under 21. My experience at Woolworths was not very good. We always had less team members on shift so it made it so stressful on our body to finish stock. Some assistant managers are very stressful and inconsiderate yelling at employees. Department managers are also the same. They expect us to finish everything with minimal employees on shift while they lurk around the store and chill and talk to other people. They do nothing the whole night then get angry at us for not finishing. Really disappointed. They also sometime have their favourites and make them do less work compared to others. I was finishing off 2 aisles of stock as I was forced to while his favourites were talking with him the whole night while not even being able to finish their own stock and eventually getting help from others yet the manager still doesn’t get angry. If you ever work at Woolworths I recommend either to work Grocery (Day shift stocking) or Fresh Foods and Fruits Department. Way more chill staff that actually work.

Pros

Once in a while pizza lunch. 2-3 times a year

Cons

Inconsiderate nightfill management

Decent workplace

Great place to work for a students or young adults, pay is alright if you are able to do weekends and late shifts. Poor communication from upper management but all and all it's an alright place to work.

Cons

upper management, not enough hours for all due to department budgets

Demanding job for minimum pay.

Demanding job for minimum pay, you are a cog in their machine and they do not care about you. There were employees there for over 20 years who were not particularly celebrated or thanked, and never received a pay rise other than what was mandated by the government.

Pros

Minimal breakroom snacks.

Cons

Long hours, bad break times, repetitive work leading to rsi
