Workplace culture was non existent
Retail Assistant/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Big top, maroochydore - 15 August 2023
Like working for any large company, you are a number and nothing more. Immediate managers were great, but as soon as you got above store management, you were looked at like a freshly stood in dog poo Avoid, please don’t do this to yourself

Not good

Not great at all used to be great now it’s all about the money at any cost. Staff thrown under the bus half the time we have no staff it’s just really bad.

There are worse places to work
Storeperson (Current Employee) - Caboolture QLD - 9 August 2023
Isnt a terrible job, it seems to get worse as time goes on though. Hours are consistently cut shorter and shorter every week, making it very difficult to meet company expectations as there arent enough staff on at any given time

Decent place to work but had some issues.
Team Member (Former Employee) - Tuggerah NSW - 8 August 2023
If you have a physical/mental disability which limits your hours, they will try and push those boundaries. If you don’t give in to this and push yourself past your limit, they will start to give you less and less shifts. Your value as a worker is less on how good you are at your job, but more about how many shifts you can fill and commit to. Rostering isn’t all organised in advance. you’re always being called in to work the morning of rather than earlier. This made it hard to balance other commitments with work due to the lack of predictability. Even if you record in advance that you’re unavailable on certain days, they’ll still roster you on for those days. You do get good training at the start to ensure you succeed and coworkers are always motivated to help out. If you don’t have a disability or other study/work commitments, Woolies is a great place to work.

Okay.
Retail (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 7 August 2023
Working at woolworths is just okay. Most managers do not care about your wellbeing or how you are doing, and everything has to do with the bottom dollar. It would be nice if the company cared more about their employees than just the money!

Jobs at Woolworths Supermarket
not bad
Fresh Produce Team Member (Current Employee) - Chester Hill NSW - 5 August 2023
I've been working at Woolworths for the past two years, and I must say it has been an incredibly positive experience. From the moment I joined the team, I felt welcomed and supported by my colleagues and managers. One of the best aspects of working at Woolworths is the sense of teamwork and camaraderie. The company places a strong emphasis on collaboration, and everyone is encouraged to contribute their ideas and suggestions. Whether it's during team meetings or daily interactions, I always felt that my opinions were valued and taken into account. Another standout feature is the focus on employee training and development. Woolworths invests in its employees' growth by offering various training programs and opportunities for advancement. I've had the chance to attend workshops and seminars that have not only enhanced my skills but also boosted my confidence in my role. The company culture at Woolworths is one that promotes work-life balance. I appreciate the flexibility in scheduling, which has allowed me to manage my personal life effectively. Moreover, the management has been understanding and accommodating when it comes to unforeseen circumstances, making it a truly supportive environment. The benefits and perks at Woolworths are also commendable. Apart from the competitive salary, there are employee discounts on store products, which is a fantastic incentive for team members. Additionally, the health and wellness initiatives have been instrumental in promoting a healthy lifestyle among employees. Of course, no workplace is without its challenges, but at Woolworths, I -

What is the best part of working at the company? Some lovely staff in my team. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Toxic management who bully others! Very poor training but big expectations. Most staff are desperate to leave! What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic, bullying, poor management and big nasty cliques! What is a typical day like for you at the company? Busy, repetitive and couldn’t wait to leave.

Great workplace overall; a good part-time job for students and those with other commitments. Lots of opportunities for growth (if desired). Somewhat flexible work environment as well.

Good flexibility
Delicatessen Assistant (Former Employee) - Moonee Ponds VIC - 3 August 2023
Great job while you are a student. Good flexibility with hours and shifts. But managers make you feel awful for calling in sick. Sustained a back injury while leaning in the deli case all the time.

I used to love coming to work.. for years... Management changed.. things just declined from then on, not enough staff, staff on hand are over worked
Self Serve Smoke Shop Register Operater (Former Employee) - Mudgee NSW - 1 August 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? If you don't have an opinion, if you don't stand up for your rights, this is NOT the job for you. I worked for this company for almost 16 years, gave them everything, worked opens and closes, one issue with my back after a refurb and had to fill smoke shop for over 3 hours and ended up with a sore back and chiro said take a couple of days off to rest your back... medical cert required, given but not accepted as monthly adjustments needed (regular chiro stuff) was told by Management if I cannot do my job 100% then I need to rethink my position, ended up having almost 3 months off due to stress... came back to having more stress and bullying by one particular staff member, only to get sick and ended up with a heart condition due to stress from my job If you can work and not have a voice... maybe its for you What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Management expect way too much from their employers, too much work so little hours What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic and uncaring, no empathy towards staff with health/mental issues Management have a lot to answer for... even contacted the Union and they were surprised but did not help What is a typical day like for you at the company? Busy, understaffed, under stress due to big demand in online shopping and no extra staff to help

Good but not steady
Team Member (Current Employee) - Campbelltown NSW - 1 August 2023
My typical day includes serving customers and occasionally running errands. It can be super stressful dealing with difficult customers and the management can be rude. The pay isn’t the best either.
