Great learning opportunity
Junior Engineer (Former Employee) - Australia - 20 November 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI enjoyed my time, but like all consultancies, there were ebbs and flows in the amount of work we would get. The work that was won was very interesting, and helped to put my learnings into practice.
Pros
Flexible Working

Another company
Civil Designer (Current Employee) - Adelaide CBD SA - 27 September 2023
Another company, you feel like just a number. Your opinion doesn’t count towards a project, no design input. There are better companies out there to work for.

Jobs at WSP
Incompetent management
Civil Engineer (Former Employee) - Adelaide CBD SA - 2 May 2023
I was employed at WSP for 3 months as a civil engineer in Adelaide. It was the worst team I have ever worked for as I was thrown in the deep end without support and guidance. Prior to commencement, I was promised a lot of things. It was just talk from the interviewers. Very lacking in people’s skills, no empathy, lack of ethics and understanding. Definitely don’t recommend anyone to work for WSP.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Incompetent managers and long hours

Large disjointed organisation
Commercial Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 26 March 2023
Engineering consultancy that has grown exponentially but fails to realise synergies of scale resulting in high staff turnover and ineffective use of available resources.
Pros
Work life balance
Cons
Zero collaboration between divisions

challenging but fair
Layout Lead Designer (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 21 March 2023
Now that the white elephants and protected species are removed, it should be a good place to work for. From what I've heard, today WSP is completely different culture. The ethic one.

Productive and great culture
Desktop Support Engineer (Current Employee) - Collins St VIC - 3 November 2022
I really happy working in WSP since I started my job. Collaborative team, friendly workplace, nice to approach work group team. I’m hired from recruiters for my position so the payment is not come from WSP so the salary isn’t really fair for IT Team. However, I really happy to work with WSP.

Good and bad
Engineer (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 22 July 2022
Not so good: I found myself doing a lot of unpaid overtime, often because it was to fix other people’s mistakes and there was no budget left on the project. They claim to have a graduate program but in my experience this was just 4 webinars over a year or so that were super high level and weren’t worth dialling into, especially when you had real work that needed doing and didn’t want to be stuck at work late. I hardly felt like I could take a lunch break during one of our major projects for at least a year because my manager had oversold the team’s capabilities and the client had unrealistic expectations. Pretty good: Due to the types of clients there are unique opportunities for work on site which you wouldn’t normally get at a pure play consultancy.

Unsupportive, unprofessional managers
Mechanical Engineer (Former Employee) - Canberra ACT - 30 April 2022
No any structural way of training engineers. They are not supportive and are unwilling to help you. If you ask one question instead of answering your queries they will give you 10 more questions.
Pros
Big name
Cons
No support

Work hard, play hard
Contracts Manager (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 4 May 2020
Good supportive culture, long hours but well rewarded. Project business so no longevity in roles but I would go work for them again.
High quality people and very collaborative place to work.

Challenging place to work
Human Resources Advisor (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 17 November 2019
WSP is a challenging place to work, it's is an evolving company that is keeping up with its competitors. The organization has similar employee benefits as other consultancies.

Not as it seems
Finance team (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 6 May 2019
WSP, promote work life balance, but are more interested in perception then actually supporting work life balance.
Higher management say the right things, but do not deliver on the balance they try to promote.

Stressful but learnt a lot
Summer Interns & Engineer Trainee (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 26 January 2019
The work style is intense and stressful but I learnt a lot about BS industry over there. Senior members were willing to teach the new engineers but it came with more workloads.
Pros
Long term development
Cons
Long hours

Very fast paced position.
Document Controller / Relief Receptionist (Former Employee) - North Sydney, NSW - 4 November 2014
Looking after all incoming and outgoing documents/drawings.
Liaising with Manila to ensure documents/drawings were drafted in time for customers.
I learnt a lot at WSP, I hadn't worked in that position before working there and was shown every aspect of that job. I learnt how to read drawings that were being sent for drafting to Manila. I learnt how important it is in that industry to ensure that all documents are superseded and up to date no matter what.
My manager and everybody in my team were a delight to work with. I only left this position as I was seeking a job that was paying more.
The hardest part of my job would have been the beginning when I was learning the way in which they done everything there.
The most enjoyable part of my job was when work was very consistent and we all worked as a team to ensure drawings we uploaded and sent out in time.
Pros
Lovely people to work for.
Cons
Wasn't my desired pay.
