Terrific Employer

Indeed Featured review

I’m pleased to be working at the Y: the management and rostering team are sharp and compassionate and always interested in how they can do things better/feedback. As a casual, I receive regular shifts and great support in my work.

Pros

Training and support

Cons

Ordering new uniform takes time

Toxic work environment

Don’t work for this company at all. They are extremely unprofessional, they lie and tell you that you need to travel to different sites in your own car for free. Management are extremely rude and unprofessional

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Bad management

Productive and fun environment.

Morning shifts are easygoing and relaxed, whereas after shifts are a little more busier as the children are energised. The job includes preparing meals, setting up activities and interacting and engaging with children while maintaining a safe atmosphere.

Pros

Hanging out with children

Cons

Short hours

Fun working at the Y

I've been employed at the Y for over a year now and I'm pleased to be working for a great company. The team culture is terrific. As always, there will be difficult days with student behaviour but the training and support is exceptional. I highly recommended the Y as an employer.

Worst place I've worked

The most disorganised company I have ever worked in. Without going into too much detail; typical day at work consisted of all staff having no idea what they were supposed to be doing at any given time which constantly resulted in children being bored and restless. Management was an absolute joke, my colleagues and I were unknowingly having our pay docked for breaks that we were not given. I was being taxed 25% per pay when I only signed an agreement of 10% tax to be deducted. The only enjoyable part of the job was working with the wonderful children.

Worked with 5-12 year olds providing meals and activities. Provided care and support for those students who needed it. however there was no management support

Not a nice place to work in

My role was an educator, instead all I did was clean toilets, mop and clean windows , any ideas I had to help the children they did not listen , instead took my ideas and got the credit for it

Pros

My work provided variety of activites the child and I were involved in.

My work would be at a client's house for eight hour shifts. I cared for from one to three children, some of the children I cared for had behaviour issues or a disability such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I enjoyed the work and believe I made a difference to these children's lives.

Pros

Playgroup in the park and visits to the beach while working.

Cons

Some jobs had long hours.

Mediocre workplace

I found the after school care program a fantastic program to work for, providing your management and other staff know what they are doing.

Ymca childcare

Work was alright the boss was pretty lazy didn't want to do much but sit back in the office and clean.I learnt that the 2IC was more of a boss and that she was the biggest asset to that company. The real manager isn't really much of an manager she is pretty rude. The co- workers are great easy to get along with. The hardest part is interacting with kids that don't even listen to you.You get to see the children and parents happy

Pros

you get to have afternoon tea with the kids

Cons

not enough hour and the pay isn't good
