Acting Head Cashier (Former Employee) –  Sydney NSW18 February 2016
I worked there for 4 years and the environment was really nice. Really easy job. Good co-workers and no sale goals. Many managers ad people in charge so you can get a promotion easily but you don't get a pay rise until you get promoted really high.
Pros
money and flexibility

Sales assistant and cashier (Former Employee) –  High Wycombe11 April 2015
A typical day was 10 hours long (one hour unpaid lunch). I mostly worked in kidswear serving customers, re-merchandising the shop floor and maintaining the visual appeal of the shop floor to a high standard. I really enjoyed working for my managers, they were fair and where possible accommodated for any time off I needed. My co-workers were excellent and my favorite part of the job. I felt I could have social interactions and make friends whilst doing my job. The hardest part of the job was dealing with boredom when the store was particularly quiet, but it was during these times that I could extend my merchandising and product knowledge.

Sales assistant (Former Employee) –  Melbourne, VIC10 September 2014
There was a lot to be done in a normal day.
Having such high standard on their presentation of their stock maintain and replenishment was crucial.
deliveries were in very high numbers and needed to be stocked quickly and properly.
Our stockroom was in numerical order as well as style and colorised so the process of stock was quite detailed.
The most enjoyable part was the staff, they chose there staff really well and it was a very encouraging and fun environment

Casual Sales & stock assistant (Current Employee) –  Melbourne, Highpoint20 March 2014
Zara's a fast paced work environment from the start of your shift to the end. Persistence and patience are key motivators to get through your day. Every day is different; one you could be changing clothes on the floor or the next you could be helping out the stock room, so you learn a variety of skills as a casual sales assistant. The people you work around are all great and help you get through the long 8.5 hour shifts you would normally be rostered on for. These shifts could be two days in a row or up to eight days in a row so that can be difficult but the feeling of accomplishment after every shift is indescribable. The most enjoyable part of working for Zara is learning co-ordination of fashion and problem solving with this task as well as knowing the latest fashion.
Pros
variety of skills learnt
Cons
long shifts, as many shifts in a row

Casual Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Sydney, NSW29 January 2014
A typical day consisted of attending and assisting customers on the floor, replenishment before the store opened and maintenance throughout the day. I have learned how to organise the stockroom, replenishment and also how to work productively and keep up in a very busy workplace. The management was very sweet and constantly gave feedback, which allowed me to improve. I got along with every co-worker and friendly to work with. The hardest part was the long 9 hour shifts but the most enjoyable was communicating and consulting customers and also co-workers.
Pros
Good uniform
Cons
long hours

Responsible (Former Employee) –  Sydney26 March 2013
Between serving every and all customers, a great emphasis was put on training for potential management. I had a great opportunity for that, providing me with the visual merchandising aspect I had pushed for. Being so many levels of management though made it easy to get 'stuck', but with new stores opening and these teams being split, there was chances to shine.
Being such big company lead to team unsatisfaction. Having a lot of staff on meant not many tasks for each.
I learnt there isn't always a reward for effort, but to shine the brightest will give you the best opportunities when you deserve them.
Pros
opportunities for growth, push on training, the fashion
Cons
long hours, many management levels, new in country

General Hand (Current Employee) –  Melbourne VIC8 February 2013
A typical day at work involves performing various tasks.
These tasks involve taking out rubbish, hanging and pricing of clothes. Also, there is a need to fold some clothes. Also, the opening and stocking of clothes into boxes.
There is time for a short break at lunch time.
I probably have mainly learnt aspects to do with working in the retail environment.
Management in general is fairly good to work for but there is not a great deal of contact in day to day operations. The exception is stockroom management where there is a fair deal of contact.
The coworkers in general have been fairly friendly and approachable but again there has not been a great deal of contact.
The most difficult part of the job has been the folding of clothes.
The more interesting and sometimes enjoyable part of the job has been working within a mainly female dominated environment.
