ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
Help older people keep moving, regain confidence and live with greater independence.
At Carpenter Court, your work could mean the difference between a resident feeling afraid to walk after a fall and feeling confident enough to move through their day again. It could mean helping someone rebuild strength, maintain their independence or take meaningful steps towards their own community living goals.
The Salvation Army Aged Care is looking for an Exercise Physiologist who wants their clinical skills to make a genuine difference in people’s lives.
This is not a role where you simply prescribe exercises and move on. You will get to know residents, understand what matters to them, and create practical, evidence-based programs that help them stay mobile, connected and as independent as possible.
A role with purpose
This part-time, fixed-term opportunity is two days per week, funded through to 31 July 2029.
You will support residents participating in the NSW Health-funded Pathways to Community Living Initiative. The program helps residents build mobility, confidence, functional independence and wellbeing as part of their individual transition and community living goals.
Working with a defined resident cohort, you will have the opportunity to see the impact of your work over time: stronger movement, safer mobility, reduced falls risk, greater confidence and better quality of life.
What you will do
You will work closely with residents, families, care teams and allied health colleagues to:
- Assess mobility, gait, balance, strength and functional capacity
- Create tailored exercise and reablement programs that reflect each resident’s goals
- Support falls prevention, confidence, independence and everyday function
- Monitor progress, adapt interventions and document meaningful outcomes
- Share practical advice and knowledge with care teams and families
- Contribute to a more active, reablement-focused culture across the centre
Who you are
You are an accredited Exercise Physiologist who is curious, compassionate and motivated by helping people achieve practical improvements in their everyday lives.
You may already have experience in aged care, rehabilitation, hospital, disability, community health or private practice. What matters most is your clinical judgement, your ability to build trust, and your interest in supporting older people living with frailty, mobility challenges and complex health needs.
This role will give you the opportunity to work alongside residents living with dementia, mental health conditions and complex behaviours. You will be supported to use your clinical skills, patience and creativity to adapt interventions around each person’s needs, preferences and capabilities.
You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology and current accreditation with Exercise & Sports Science Australia
- Confidence assessing mobility, balance, falls risk and functional capacity
- A thoughtful, evidence-based approach to exercise prescription and reablement
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with residents, families and multidisciplinary teams
- The ability to work independently, stay organised and contribute positively to a team
- An understanding of person-centred care and the Aged Care Quality Standards
Why The Salvation Army Aged Care?
- A role where your clinical work has visible, lasting impact on people’s confidence, independence and quality of life
- Salary of approximately $76,000 per annum FTE, pro rata for part-time hours, plus superannuation
- Access to not-for-profit salary packaging of up to $15,900 per year, plus up to $2,650 for meals and entertainment, helping you keep more of your income
- A meaningful NSW Health-funded program with a defined resident cohort and clear purpose
- Fitness Passport, novated leasing, retail and lifestyle discounts, and employee assistance support
