Email Address Policy
Indeed wants to keep its platform safe and secure for everyone. This policy explains what kind of email address employers must use when creating and managing an Indeed account.
This policy applies to all employers using the Indeed platform.
Email address requirements
Approved email addresses
To use Indeed, you must register and keep your account with a stable, permanent email address. This helps protect your account and lets you recover access if there is a problem.
A stable email address:
- Is meant for long-term use
- Is protected by a password
- Allows account recovery
- Comes from a trusted provider (like Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo) or your workplace
Unapproved email addresses
Temporary or disposable emails – also called 'burner' emails – are not permitted. These emails:
- Expire after minutes or days
- Often come from sites like mailinator.com or tempmail.org
- Do not offer strong security or recovery options
What happens if a temporary email is used
New accounts
- If you try to create a new account with a temporary or disposable email, account creation may be blocked.
- You must use a stable email address to finish registration.
Existing account
If an existing account is found to use a temporary or disposable email, Indeed may:
- Restrict the account, or
- Suspend the account
Next steps
