About us
People, Safety, and Culture (PSC) provides services and advice to the department on a wide range of human resources (HR), transformation, occupational health and safety, industrial relations, workforce planning matters and business assets.
The HR Assist Officer sits within the Employee Workplace Relations (EWR) team of PSC and supports the HR Assist helpdesk function. As the HR Assist Officer, you will respond directly to general HR enquiries in an efficient, effective and customer focused manner in order to deliver timely, accurate and reliable HR support to managers and employees.
What you will do
As HR Assist Officer, you will provide first-level HR help by phone and email.
You will manage queries, keep records and support the HR helpdesk team.
You will:
- provide courteous and timely help to employees and managers by phone and email.
- answer general HR questions about pay, recruitment, learning, leave and workplace relations.
- track queries through to resolution, keeping people informed within agreed timeframes.
- triage complex queries to the right HR team and keep accurate records.
- support the team with reports, helpdesk processes, guidance and other HR tasks.
About you
Relevant experience in an HR team is highly desirable. A tertiary qualification in human resources or a related field is also highly desirable.
You should also have:
- customer service experience, preferably in a helpdesk or service setting.
- knowledge of current HR practices and, preferably, HR or payroll systems.
- strong administrative skills, including database and spreadsheet work.
- the ability to protect confidential information and solve problems with care.
