As an Occupational Therapist at Assist Ability Australia, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing comprehensive occupational therapy services. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess the unique needs and capabilities of our clients, develop personalised treatment plans, and implement interventions to promote independence and improve their overall quality of life. Your expertise and compassion will contribute to creating a positive impact on the well-being and empowerment of the individuals we support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Assessment and Planning:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' functional abilities, environmental factors, and personal goals.
  • Develop individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings and in consultation with the participant and their support network.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and support staff to ensure holistic and coordinated care.

Intervention and Therapy Delivery

  • Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to address clients' specific needs and goals.
  • Utilise therapeutic activities, adaptive equipment, and assistive technologies to enhance clients' daily functioning and independence.
  • Monitor progress and regularly review treatment plans to ensure effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.

Education and Training

  • Educate clients, families, and caregivers on strategies to promote independence and improve overall well-being.
  • Offer training and guidance to support staff on implementing therapy strategies and ensuring consistency in care.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and evaluations to communicate clients' progress and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and other professionals, to provide holistic care to clients.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and develop integrated care plans.

Professional Development

  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay updated with current trends and best practices in occupational therapy.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge in specialised areas.



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in [State/Country].
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities and a strong understanding of disability-related challenges.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in occupational therapy and the ability to apply them to diverse client populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and empowering individuals to achieve their goals.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Google suite.
