Full job description
One of the largest independent MRO companies in Australasia, Heston MRO is looking for a new leader to support our Brisbane Station team.
The role focuses on our Line Maintenance services, but also has scope to support other dynamic projects if desirable.
The Role
The Station Manager is responsible for the general operations, service delivery and our employees working at the Station. Ensuring operations on the ground run efficiently, meet targets for our clients and do so within a robust regulatory framework.
All duties will be undertaken with Heston MRO strategic approach in mind and alongside key performance indicators (KPI'S).
This role is a full time and permanent role on an annual salaried basis. Broadly speaking the role is a Monday- Friday office hour type role, however flexibility to work weekends will at times be required, with time offset accordingly.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:
- Service delivery for Brisbane and Coolangatta Stations and personnel
- Manpower Planning (AMEs & LAMEs) to ensure client aircraft type coverage and availability for incoming/outgoing flights
- Client contractual aircraft requirements and CASA Regulation
- Manage and analyse trends in aircraft defects and turnaround time for rectification
- Working and communicating to our clients regarding “on the ground issues”; reporting and keeping head office informed
- Providing support and training through toolbox talks to ensure engineers are up to date with process, regulation/internal procedures and safe work priorities
- Active participation in interviews for new positions within the Station
- Conflict management and ensuring morale within the team is high
Other experience
Experience and/or interest in any of the follow will be desirable:
- Budget development and/or analysis (manpower, tooling, expenses, activities)
- Looking at expenditure vs income monitoring
- Waste minimization strategies and continuous improvement
- Lean methodology or similar
- Scheduling, planning or other project management skills
- Quality systems, internal auditing or external audit management / hosting
- Establishing KPIs for teams and managing for motivation
Pre-requisite Requirements
At least 3 years of management experience ideally in a similar sector
Experience in Aircraft Engineering, preferably in an MRO environment
Strong quality and safety record
Experience in rostering, scheduling and planning
Desirable
Tertiary qualifications in Management and/or Aviation
Experience with any of the following software systems - Envision, SERA, Zambion or IFS.
Our Requirements

- ASIC and ADA eligibility
- Excellent English communication skills
- A valid state driving licence
