Join Komatsu and Be Part of Something Big!

Overview.

Komatsu Mining are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Innovation & New Technology to take ownership of engineering excellence at our Parkhurst facility.

At Parkhurst, we manufacture and assemble complex underground mining equipment through an integrated operation spanning machining, fabrication, electrical systems, gearbox assembly and final build, supported by advanced CNC and production technologies.

With a strong focus on innovation, safety, and continuous improvement, we are investing in our Queensland operation to drive the next phase of manufacturing performance.

The opportunity.

This is a high-impact, site-based role that combines hands-on engineering, innovation, and strategic improvement.

You will play a critical role in strengthening local capability — shifting the site from reactive support to a proactive, high-performing manufacturing operation, while driving innovation across processes, systems, and technologies.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead continuous improvement and innovation initiatives across manufacturing processes and systems
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation, and advanced manufacturing methods
  • Design and optimise jigs, fixtures, tooling, and plant layout
  • Improve production routers and manufacturing data accuracy
  • Develop and deliver CAPEX business cases, including ROI and risk assessments
  • Support safe, efficient product flow, compliance, and plant performance
  • Provide technical leadership and support across operations and support functions
  • Collaborate across maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to drive sustainable improvements

About you.

You are a practical, solution-oriented engineer who thrives in complex manufacturing environments. You bring both technical depth and the ability to translate ideas into real operational improvements.

You’ll have completed a degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and have experience in heavy industrial, mining, or manufacturing environments, applying your technical knowledge to deliver real-world solutions.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you’ll take ownership of your outcomes.

Critical skill & competency requirements.

Business Acumen. Develops and justifies CAPEX investments, including cost–benefit analysis and ROI. Evaluates technical and financial feasibility of manufacturing improvements.

Leadership. Leads through ownership, influence, and delivery of outcomes. Drives innovation and change in a mature manufacturing environment.

Collaboration. Works effectively across teams to achieve shared goals. Partner with operations, maintenance, planners, vendors, suppliers, and engineering teams.

Adaptability & Agility. Adapt to changing site priorities and operational challenges. Navigate change management and resistance when introducing new technologies.

Hunter Mentality. Identifies and delivers continuous improvement initiatives across all operations. Proactively improves routers, systems, and manufacturing performance.

Komatsu benefits.

  • Fitness Passport
  • Discounted corporate health insurance with HCF and access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program
  • 12 weeks paid primary carer parental leave
  • Vehicle and travel discounts with Toyota, Orix and Avis
  • Discounts at over 400 retailers Australia-wide
  • Technology discounts on Apple, Dell, LG, Samsung, Xbox and PlayStation products
  • Free health and wellbeing resources
