Medical Receptionist, Casual | Skin Cancer Clinic | Ashmore

Ashmore Skin Assessment Surgery is a dedicated skin cancer clinic on the central Gold Coast. We are fully booked five days a week, rated 4.9 stars across more than 200 Google reviews, and about to bring on a third doctor. We are looking for a reliable medical receptionist to join our small front-desk team. Experience is preferred, but we will train the right person.

The role

Casual, with two fixed days every week (Monday and Wednesday), plus additional weekday shifts, sometimes at short notice, when our Operations Manager is on leave or unwell, and Saturday clinics as they come online. Most weeks will be two days; some will be three or four. You will report directly to the practice principal, Dr Tim Ibrahim.

You will be the first person our patients meet, on the phone and at the desk:

• Greeting and checking in patients, many of whom are older
• Managing bookings, recalls and waitlists in Best Practice and HotDoc
• Processing billing, Medicare and DVA claims and EFTPOS payments
• Scanning, correspondence and general administrative support to the doctors and nurse
• Keeping the front desk calm and organised on busy procedure days

About you

• Medical reception experience preferred, ideally with Best Practice or a similar practice management system and Medicare and DVA claiming
• Strong customer service or administration experience will be considered, with full training provided
• Warm, clear phone manner and genuine patience with patients who are anxious or unwell
• Reliable. You turn up when rostered, and if something changes you tell us early
• Comfortable working closely with a small team and taking direction from the principal
• Available every Monday and Wednesday throughout the year, including university term breaks and placement periods if you are studying
• Able to pick up additional weekday shifts at short notice, and willing to work Saturdays

What we offer

• $35 to $39 per hour casual (loading included), depending on experience, with Saturday shifts at Award weekend rates
