The Company – Quick Camps

Our client, Quick Camps manufactures custom built caravans / portable accommodation and utility units that are used for remote mining and construction projects in Western Australia as well as the Eastern States. Due to an increased demand in Quick Camps products, they are currently seeking several Trade Qualified Lead Hand Carpenter to join their team working on a Permanent / Full Time Basis.

Quicks Camps – Location & Working Hours

  • Location: Bibra Lake
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Working Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Additional Hours: Additional working hours and working days outside of ordinary hours will be required to meet operational demands. Allowances & Overtime remuneration will apply when applicable

The Role

The main responsibilities of the role are to ensure that the fit out of mobile camp assets are manufactured and commissioned to high standards which pass set quality control standards. The Leading Hand Carpenter is a hands-on role where you will be supervising and leading a workshop team of between 5 to 15 in-house workshop staff and remote camp employees as well as working on the tools in the manufacture of mobile camp assets.

In addition, the Lead Hand Carpenter will be part of the management and supervisory team that is responsible for the setup, commissioning and demobilization of remote camps throughout Australia that can accommodate 10 to 75 personnel.

The Lead Hand Carpenter main responsibilities are as follows;

  • Supervising an in-house team of 5 to 15 workshop employees that include Tradesmen and Trades Assistants
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the workshop in the manufacture of mobile accommodation units
  • Interpret Technical Drawings, Specifications, Bills of Materials & Work Orders to ensure that all units are manufactured to precise specifications
  • Ensure all units are manufactured to high standards following TP Procedures (Inspection and Test Plan) and ISO 9001 standards
  • Working with in-house procurement to ensure build materials, workshop tools & workshop consumables are stocked at set quantities
  • Working with senior management & workshop team members to continually review & improve productivity efficiency & quality control
  • Responible for ensuring all workshop & site staff follow strict safety procedures in all work activities as well as participating in continual review & improvement of safety systems & procedures to maintain zero lost time injuries
  • Training new employees in workshop systems & procedures across safety, manufacturing, QA & camp set up & de mobilization

The Lead Hand Carpenter

We are seeking a candidate that is a trade qualified carpenter that ideally has at least 5 years experience working in a similar role in the manufacture of portable accommodation units. The successful candidate will be experienced in general construction trades and techniques especially in;

  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Fabrication

Key trades skills and experience we will be focusing on include;

  • Has an Australian Carpentry Trade Qualification or Similar
  • As a minimum possessing a C Class WA Manual Driving License (Experience Towing Trailers/Caravans is a bonus)
  • Is able to work away from home for up to 2 weeks from time to time
  • Ability to interpret Technical Drawings & associated technical information such as General Arrangements, Shop Drawings, Floor Plans, MEP Plans, Manufacturing Specifications & BOM Lists
  • Has experience in working to ISO 9001 Standards and Quality Control systems such as TP Procedures
  • Experienced in Leading Teams of 5+ personnel
  • Has experience in managing & enforcing safety procedures & systems to team members

Remuneration

Quick Camps is seeking a dependable Lead Hand Workshop Carpenter to join their team on a Permanent / Full-Time basis. Depending on experience, qualifications and past work history the salary package will include

  • $38.00 to $45.00 Per Hour $75,000 to $85,000 Per Annum
  • + Superannuation Guarantee
  • + Leave Entitlements
  • + Allowances & Over Time when Applicable
